The Budget Meal Initiative was launched in March 2023 to provide Singaporeans with more affordable food options. Over the last few months, we have been engaging coffeeshop operators to encourage them to offer more budget meal options. I am pleased to announce that this initiative will be expanded beyond rental HDB coffee shops, with another 180 coffee shops under nine private coffeeshop chains providing budget meals. These coffeeshop chains will also accept CDC Vouchers, which will further stretch the value of the CDC Vouchers, lighten the load of daily expenses and help Singaporeans better manage living cost. I also announced that today, more than 883,000 Singaporean households have claimed the 2024 June CDC Vouchers, representing 67% of the total households. More than $32mill of 2024 June CDC Vouchers have been spent while more than $526mill of 2024 Jan CDC Vouchers have been spent, totaling to more than $558mill of CDC Vouchers spent this year. Through complementary initiatives such as the Heartland Digitalisation and Revitalisation Committee (HDRC), we will continue to support heartland merchants, and work closely with F&B businesses to ensure that Singaporeans will continue to enjoy affordable meal options.
