We tend to focus on the importance of degrees and certificates, previous work experiences and all of these “standard” requirements. But what about raw potential? What about innate talent, passion for the role or industry, willingness to learn and improve? These roles have been shaped over time, mostly by men of a certain age and background, so it's no surprise that the role may be tailored to fit them best. Instead of trying to force people, particularly women, to conform to these existing roles, take a courageous look at the role itself: ❔Is this type of role truly suited to address the challenges and opportunities facing your organization? ❔How does this role relate to and empower the broader leadership team? Are individuals able to play to their strengths? ❔Is it necessary for one person to take all tasks and responsibilities?
