Lucid Air Pure is now the most energy-efficient production vehicle ever made, with 420 miles of EPA-estimated range from an 84kWh battery pack. With the unprecedented ability to travel 5.0 miles per kilowatt hour of energy, as well as achieving the highest efficiency rating ever for an EV with 146 MPGe, Lucid has both raised the bar and lowered the cost of range for its customers. Why isn't the metric "miles per kWh" more widely publicized and discussed for all EV's? I feel it should be! "MPGe" is nonsensical. Knowing mi/kWh, and knowing what you pay for a unit of electricity, you can very quickly & easily see the cost benefits over ICE. Not to mention, easily compare the efficiencies of different models.

I think this focus on efficiency is commendable, and kudos to Lucid for constantly pushing the bar here. This figure is exemplary given the size and weight of the car. I do not mean to be pedantic, but since you mentioned "The world"s most energy efficient car", and highlighted 5miles per kWh, I would like to point out that the MG Comet/Wuling Air EV is more efficient at ~ 7miles/kWh as tested by Autocar India in a real world test - https://www.autocarindia.com/advice/mg-comet-ev-real-world-range-tested-explained-428629 No doubt the Air is more efficient if one changes the metric to weight (Kgs or pounds) * moved (km or miles) per kWh (energy).

It is a nice car, but they only sold 6,000 cars last year and are projecting only 9,000 this year. For comparison, that’s fewer cars than Ferrari sells (over 13,000 in 2023) of even Lamborghini (over 10,000). For all the Lucid fans among EV enthusiasts, they aren’t really having a material impact on the car market, much less having an impact on climate change. They apparently have the capital commmitments to stick around for a while, but I wouldn’t put them high on a list of investable companies.

It’s good to see efficiency rather than range publicised. I sometimes manage 5.0 miles per kW/h from my VW ID.3 on my 45mile commute dependent on the ambient conditions.

My Lucid only give me 3.2 miles per KWh in an average. To get 5 miles, you must be going downhill with no wind no radio driving at 30 miles per hour speed! Don’t get me wrong, I love the look and design, but not with this unreal advertisement.

..getting 4.1mi/kWh with a M3 LR, that’s 1/2 the price for the consumer. Driving stats based on Germany that also includes high speed Autobahn in my total average. So you decide if 2x the price is what you wanna pay for fancy interior, not saying it’s not worth it. Finally to drive change we need lower cost EVs and higher efficiency to save valueable resources to be sustainable.

I look forward to them creating a far more affordable vehicle, that’s much more reasonably priced, ($30-$45k range), while keeping the same efficiency. The future is bright for EVS like the Lucid. It may lower the range offering, but it’ll serve those who stay local, and/or elderly retired folks who leave their homes twice a week. Nonetheless, the wonderful vehicle.

Having a PHEV is always a fun game to get that mi/kw efficiency higher. Even with a pure ICE car, it's always been fun to see how best to get the most range. It would also let me know if I was driving too aggressively from week to week based how far I got when I hit the 3/4 tank mark. I'd give myself a little treat when I was about to fill up though and just have fun driving. A lot of people still don't know about the environmental factors that play Into the range outside of our control, but 5mi/kw is a great number! I bet that also means there's a possibility you can get more, depending on all those factors 👀 and I hope I get the chance too. *psst* blows past Tesla efficiency for sure!
