Ivan had X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD, a genetic disease that can damage the brain. He was one of the first patients to receive a new gene therapy for the disease, which gives patients a functioning copy of the abnormal gene that causes ALD. The therapy was tested in clinical trials at Stanford, and we're proud to be one of just four centers in the US to offer this lifesaving treatment. #ALD #Research

Our Pediatric Transplant staff volunteered to cook a warm meal for patients and their families staying at the RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE AT STANFORD. The megaBITES meal program allows groups to cook lunch or dinner on-site at the 123-bedroom Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) near Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. The RMHC team creates a healthy, comforting menu for the volunteers to prepare, and then leads the team through a rewarding, fun meal service. It’s a positive way for volunteer groups to help families feel at home. #Transplant #RonaldMcDonaldHouse
