▶ I believe this will change the way we use our phones and the internet in general. OpenAI sums it up perfectly: "You can now create custom versions of ChatGPT that combine instructions, extra knowledge, and any combination of skills." ▶ Enterprise customers can have internal-only custom GPT's. ▶ I think customised GPT's or similar chatbots will be standard in research groups in a year from now. Excited about our new paper, fresh off the press, in Nature Communications. Our results indicate that nanostructured silicon filters can speed up infrared image processing with applications in low-energy, real-time machine vision and remote sensing. If you're interested, check out the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/gRfZFy57 We show that nanostructured filters allow us to process images in real-time simply by optically transmitting them through the filter - no digital computation involved. The transmitted, pre-processed images can then be recorded by a conventional camera and fed into a digital algorithm for further computation. We specifically looked at a process called 'edge detection' which is highly relevant to machine vision applications. By adding a thin layer of a phase-change material called Vanadium Dioxide, the device becomes tunable. This allows us to alter the type of real-time processing that the device performs simply by heating or cooling the filter over a small range of about 10 degrees Celsius. I guess it must be Palo Alto if the AirBnB's house rules start off with 'this is not a place to negotiate deals'. I had a great week visiting the research group of Prof. Brongersma at Stanford. I learned about exciting new opportunities at the intersection of 2D materials and tuneable optical components, and had inspiring discussions on nanotech in future augmented- and virtual reality equipment. Thanks for the awesome time!

I'm excited to participate in the upcoming Conversation at the Crossroads panel discussion “Artificial Intelligence - prospects, entrepreneurs and ethics”. Together with prominent panelists Scott Wilson, GAICD, Ruth Lewis and Jacinthe Flore we will discuss AI’s impact on our workplaces, ethical considerations and and some of the most important advantages we think AI could enable for society in the near future. Join us at the event on the 17th of April at Drill Hall, 26 Therry Street in Melbourne. For those not in Melbourne, there will be a live stream set up. Special thanks to co-organiser Elaine Young for the invitation to join the discussion! more info: https://lnkd.in/ggsEdJtP #Melbourne #AI #Ethics
