Horses help veterans heal. Research shows that equine-assisted therapy can be highly effective for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and other behavioral health conditions. This experiential treatment involves caring for horses to help clients better understand themselves and how they perceive and interact with others. Suicide is among the top 10 causes of death in the US, American Veterans are 1.5 times more likely to die by suicide than Americans who never served in the military, and female American veterans are 2.2 times more likely to die by suicide.
