The The Canadian Real Estate Association | L'Association canadienne de l'immobilier has launched a fundraising campaign in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal. We encourage the REALTOR® community to consider making tax-receiptable donations to support those affected in Jasper and surrounding areas using CREA’s REALTORS Care® fundraising page. Donations will help support those impacted with immediate and ongoing relief, including evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts, as well as community preparedness and risk reduction for future disaster events within Alberta. https://buff.ly/4ddDxIE

Crises such as tornadoes and power outages make people feel compelled to help, to volunteer, and to donate. For nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable populations, there may be periods of time where every day feels like an emergency. When crisis strikes, a well-crafted campaign can bring in a lot of funds very quickly. However, it is important to avoid slipping into what Heather Lowe, MSW calls “fight or flight” fundraising. Click here for a few things to keep in mind when avoiding living in this emergency mode: https://lnkd.in/ga7GqHjY #goodadvice #fundraising

10 years on... still so relevant.
Just because it isn't happening here doesn't mean it isn't happening. Ten years ago, we launched our 'Second a Day' video to highlight the experiences of Syrian children living through conflict. Today, the video and its message is more relevant than ever. But we're still here for children around the world and we will never give up. The impact of war on children is profound and devastating, affecting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being in significant ways. Children are often the most vulnerable victims of war, facing increased risk of injury or death from violence, bombings, and other forms of conflict. The lack of access to healthcare and basic necessities can result in malnutrition, disease, and other health issues. The experience of war can have long-lasting emotional effects on children, leading to anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder. Witnessing violence, losing loved ones, and being displaced from their homes can have a lasting impact on their emotional well-being. Disruption of Education- can have long-term consequences on their development and future opportunities, perpetuating cycles of poverty and instability. War impact on children's innocence and childhood, forcing them to grow up too quickly and take on responsibilities beyond their years. It is essential for governments, organizations, and individuals to prioritize the protection and well-being of children during times of conflict, ensuring that they receive the necessary support, care, and resources to recover from the devastating impact of war.

Are you looking for a good place to make donations to for the end of the year? Please, please consider giving to Pious Projects of America - they're rated as a 4-star charity by Charity Navigator and are funding extremely important projects such as (but not limited to) emergency relief for Palestine/Gaza and food/water for Yemen, who is also undergoing one of the worst hunger crises in the world. Something I really like about their campaigns is that they tell you exactly how much your donation helps (ie "$50 buys 1 food basket"). As you sit in your warm houses and fill up on your favorite holiday treats, please consider helping out people who are not as lucky as you are. Instead of buying your friends & family plastic junk that will just collect dust until it is thrown into a landfill, buy a food basket or two in their names to feed a family in need. 🙏 🤲 📦 https://piousprojects.org/
