So important to prepare the future for the now. Informative read! 🚀 Bridging the Gap: Mitigating AI Job Displacement Through Education In a world evolving at breakneck speed, the rise of #artificialintelligence (#ai) is reshaping industries, presenting both challenges and unprecedented opportunities. Inspired by recent insights from a brilliant piece on the Vocareum blog / Re: mitigating AI job displacement through #education. 1. Embrace #Disruption as an #Opportunity: The historical precedent of technological shifts, from the decline of print media to the automation-driven changes in manufacturing, teaches us that disruption is inherent to progress. The rise of AI promises a "gale of creative destruction," challenging outdated job structures but also paving the way for #innovative industries. As #businessleaders, we must view #disruption not as a threat but as an opportunity for #reinvention. 2. Swift #Adaptation is Non-Negotiable: Just as the internet revolution demanded swift adaptation to digital literacy in the '90s, today's business landscape requires proficiency in AI-related skills. The urgency to equip ourselves and our teams with prompt #engineering and #AImodel tuning parallels the need for rapid adaptation to #emergingtechnologies. Swift education is the key to staying ahead in the competitive AI-driven future. 3. Collaboration Amplifies Impact: Vocareum, a standout player in #AIeducation, exemplifies the power of collaboration. Its #AINotebook, successfully used by industry giants like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and DeepLearning.AI, highlights the impact of partnerships in delivering quality education. #Businessleaders can draw inspiration from such collaborations, recognizing that working together amplifies our collective impact on industry transformations. 4. Proactive Education Fuels Growth: As the demand for AI skills skyrockets, there's a global shortage of #AI professionals. The lesson here is clear – a proactive approach to education is a catalyst for individual and collective growth. By investing in skills necessary for the AI-driven future, we not only future-proof our businesses but contribute to the thriving ecosystem of innovation. 5. Learning from the Past Shapes the Future: The historical context of job displacement and creation teaches us valuable lessons. Industries that resisted change suffered, while those that embraced #innovation thrived. As business leaders, understanding the past enables us to make informed decisions for the future. The #AIrevolution is no exception; it's an invitation to #learn, #adapt, and #lead. In conclusion, the narrative of AI education holds profound lessons. Let's leverage #disruption, adapt swiftly, #collaborate for impact, proactively educate ourselves, and draw wisdom from the past to shape a future where our businesses not only survive but thrive in the era of AI. #AI #BusinessInnovation #FutureOfWork #Education https://lnkd.in/eu67bQeQ

What do students know about AI? The new question sets provide students with a basis to self-assess their skills and knowledge of what AI is and how it could, or should, be used in the context of their studies. Students’ confidence levels will vary from ‘developing’ through ‘capable’ to ‘proficient’ depending on their experience. The questions are specifically aimed at students with the tool producing an individual report for each user designed to point the way to future development. The discovery tool can be embedded in programmes of support for students and is designed to draw out students’ critical thinking. The results can indicate where responsible use AI might give students an advantage, or where it might not be the most appropriate tool. Your own organisational policies can be added to the report to tailor your students’ experience. #AIKnowledgeGap #AIinEducation #AILiteracy #EdTech #StudentAwareness Read more: https://lnkd.in/dCtKpV3P

If you’re giving advice to someone who is thinking about what comes next in their life or career, employers are increasingly making clear that the short answer is: Skill up—and keep it up. There are many reasons for learner/workers to win the skills game, but the most urgent clearly is AI and the broad adoption of transformative technologies that will be supported by AI in the next few years. It all comes down to better preparing ourselves as individuals – and as a society – for human work, the work that only humans can do, in an increasingly technology-mediated world. As Massachusetts Institute of Technology economist and co-director of the Labor Studies Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research David Autor says, “AI will reshape the value and nature of human expertise. Expertise commands a market premium if it is both necessary for accomplishing an objective and relatively scarce.” Higher education has to be a central part of the development of this adaptive and constantly evolving expertise. Today’s colleges and universities face immense challenges, to be sure—but AI also presents them with a dual opportunity: They can use AI systems to educate people for good jobs more quickly and at less expense; and they can build instruction about AI itself across majors and disciplines. Frankly, given AI’s inexorable progress, this is a path they must take. The rocketing pace of change demands that schools experiment, adapt, and collaborate as never before. That’s the game higher education must compete in, and must win. And for individuals and society, frequent reskilling is the only way to stay ahead of the game. You can read more about this in my latest Forbes piece here: https://lnkd.in/gR_yK_M7 #highered #work #learning #AI #education

Are AI Skills a Viable Substitute for Years of Experience? Here's an interesting premise for the #TalentAcquisitionCommunity to consider when it comes to the impact of #GenerativeAI on #recruiting: Can #AI skills serve as a viable shortcut past the traditionally expected 'learning curve' for early talent? In the dynamic landscape of today's workforce, where tech advancements like #artificialintelligence are reshaping industries at warp speed, the answer is increasingly leaning towards a very strong "maybe". Here's why: Rapid Advancements In Tech: With tools and resources becoming more accessible, ambitious early talent can equip themselves with state-of-the-art AI skills faster than ever before. On-the-Go Learning Opportunities: Gone are the days of solely relying on years of experience to gain proficiency. Today's talent has access to a plethora of higher ed classes, online courses, tutorials, and interactive platforms that offer real-world AI applications. This means they can learn on the go, acquiring skills at their own pace and applying them immediately. Adaptive Learning Environments: AI-powered platforms have the capacity to personalize learning experiences. By analyzing individual strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles, these platforms can tailor educational content to maximize comprehension and retention, accelerating the learning process. Demand for Innovation: In competitive markets where innovation is paramount, employers are increasingly valuing skills over early tenure. Demonstrating proficiency in AI technologies showcases adaptability, critical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving—all qualities that are highly sought after in early talent. By honing their AI skills, early talent has the potential to bypass the conventional 'two-year learning curve' and hit the ground running from day one. This not only benefits the individuals themselves but also empowers organizations to leverage the full potential of emerging talent without delay. Of course, there is no substitute for experience in the real-world application of skills, and we know that the three-plus-years milestone is when experience begins to truly demonstrate its value. But is it time to forgo the obligatory "1 to 2 years experience" requirement for early talent roles? Or at least reconsider the definition of "experience" when creating job requisitions for level-one roles? Maybe so.
