A sustainable future depends on converting petroleum refineries into renewable biorefineries. It was more than inspiring to visit World Energy, LLC's refinery, the world's first commercial-scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility. While battery-electric vehicles are helping clean up ground transportation, only liquid hydrocarbons have the energy density needed for aviation today and are compatible with existing infrastructure. With air travel expected to triple by 2050, decarbonizing jet fuel is a trillion-dollar opportunity. Thanks for hosting, Gary Grimes.

🌱🔋 Did you know that green ammonia is revolutionizing the way we think about energy and sustainability? Unlike traditional ammonia production, which relies on fossil fuels, green ammonia is produced using renewable energy sources like wind and solar. This process not only reduces carbon emissions but also offers a versatile solution for storing and transporting renewable energy. 🔋🌱 Green ammonia can be used as a clean fuel for ships, a sustainable fertilizer in agriculture, and even as a way to store and transport hydrogen. It's a game-changer in the quest for a zero-carbon future.! 🌍💚 #GreenAmmonia #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #CleanTech #Innovation #ZeroCarbon #Energytransition #ammoniacraking #DuikerCleanTechnologies

Another promising news for the aviation industry! A groundbreaking $4 billion facility in Louisiana is poised to revolutionize the production of #SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) using sugar cane waste. DG Fuels, bp, and Johnson Matthey are joining forces to generate an impressive 680 million liters of SAF annually, enough to fly an estimated 30,000 trans-Atlantic flights each year. This project involves converting $120 million worth of sugar cane waste into carbon monoxide, which, combined with blue #hydrogen, forms #syngas. This syngas is the key ingredient in creating low-carbon #kerosene through Fischer Tropsch process. With DG Fuels' SAF, carbon emissions drop to just 14 grams per mega joule of energy used, 85% lower than fossil jet fuel. Currently, SAF production is a drop in the ocean, at 0.2% of global jet-fuel use… But with a net-zero target demanding 450 billion metric tons of SAF by 2050, initiatives like this are vital. DG Fuels has made great strides, with offtake agreements with Delta Air Lines and airfrance industries klm, and a strategic partnership with Airbus. The Louisiana plant is set to start production in 2028, reflecting a broader trend as an increasing number of Oil & Gas well as newly sustainable energy companies move towards SAF production using alternative feedstocks or green hydrogen and biogenic carbon dioxide. Johnson Matthey is venturing into hydrogen and sees SAF as a strategic growth area, tapping into the burgeoning demand for green solutions for hard to abate #aviation sector. Let's discuss the potential impact of this venture and similar ones on the future of aviation. How will initiatives like these shape the industry, and what does it mean for green tech investment? Please share your thoughts and insights! #SAF #Sustainability #Aviation #Innovation #GreenTech #Hydrogen

Register now for our webinar tomorrow with Global Bioenergies to learn about their unique process to convert renewable sources including beet, cane, straw, and wood sugars into Sustainable Aviation Fuel. https://hubs.la/Q01YP1KZ0 Thursday, July 27 12:00 p.m. ET/9:00 a.m. PT The company's process was just certified by ASTM International. Global Bioenergies’ SAF can be blended up to 50% with fossil fuel in existing airplanes. It comes at a time when Europe has just adopted the RefuelEU plan, which aims at gradually increasing the production and incorporation of SAF, from 2% in 2025 to 6% in 2030 and up to 70% by 2050.
