Rebuilding the global electricity grid is essential for the energy transition. That makes the grid a linchpin, a bottleneck – and an investment opportunity.

There is no such thing as a global electricity grid. It is ironic, moronic, and disappointing that two finance “experts” opine on an engineering challenge. Facts: (1). The US has 3 electrical grids to increase reliability, diversification and decrease cost. (2) 75%+ of the power needed to energize a grid comes from oil, gas, nuclear, and a small fraction from hydro. (3). It is impossible to store grid energy at scale without a prohibitive waste of energy at an astronomic cost. (3). Non engineers and non-scientists rely on “fantasy promises” of new discoverirs in the future. Remember cold fusion? Pure fantasy. (4) zero carbon footprint projects are impossible. No one will say this, but it’s true. The “zero” is obtained by purchasing carbon offsets. The price of such an offset? Purely dictated by and paid to governments. It is frustrating and wrong for non subject matter engineering experts to debate and opine on subjects such experts are unqualified to debate. Such talking heads replicate the 15 year old Greta Thunberg yelling “ How dare you destroy my planet.” Bottom line: The purpose of the article is to push for government spending on climate-change “prevention” policies based on fantasy.

Absolutely! There is money to be made in any technological advancement, but the opportunities today are massive in breadth and depth. Energy is the core to it all, and investing in infrastructure has made millionaires in the past and will make billionaires today.

Here in the US, Nimbyism makes it a major challenge to construct and operate power plants. However, it is far more difficult to build out the Transmission and Distribution system. The current system relies on real estate rights of ways that took a 100 years to procure. Adding more routes, particularly with multi location solar and wind generation, would hit a wall of litigation and political firestorms.
