Warren Buffett sold a 2.5% stake in Paytm at Rs 1,370 crore (for Rs 877.29 apiece), while he had initially purchased them at Rs 2,178 crores, taking the loss to more than Rs 620 crore. The factors enlisted by you Madhur Jain are more the outcomes and not reasons for the collapse of Paytm. The fundamental reason is it's monetization or business model. If you observe none of the UPIs are making profits out of their payment apps. Not Google nor the govt. UPI Or even Apple. But they have diverse revenue streams from which they are pumping money into their apps But Paytm is different because it tried to make money solely out of an app where the margins are razor thin and later was rattled under cutthroat competition from the big tech who come with abyss-like pockets. Then it entered into FS where it doesn't have an expertise and exposure like, say the banks. All companies are struggling under the larger macroeconomic pressures. But what makes Paytm more vulnerable is it's business model. Warren Buffett is a fair weather friend. And you can't blame him because Paytm is clearly running out of steam!

Paytm is facing a big problem because their banking license got canceled. What does this mean? When you pay a fruit seller using Paytm, your money first goes to Paytm's special account, then after 24 hours, it goes to the fruit seller actual account. But now, the RBI canceled Paytm's special account license. Now Paytm is asking ICICI and Yes Bank to make a new special account for them. For example, PhonePe uses Yes Bank's special account. By February 29th, Paytm needs to find a bank to make millions of these special accounts for its customers. all Paytm QR codes won't work because they need to change them. Considering the above aspects as a investors, Paytm is not a good company to invest in right now. Until I hear some good news about acquisitions, I won't buy their stocks as a conservative investor. Plus there are many competitors now Remember when the Prime Minister was in the newspaper with Paytm ( next day of demonetization ) within just 7 years? Now, the company is facing big problems.
