Greenfly, the digital content management platform, has secured $14m in fresh venture capital funding. Leading investment is coming from ADvantage, the sports tech investing fund associated with the Dassler family of adidas renown. Participants in the latest funding round include the National Basketball Association (NBA), Ryan Sports Ventures and new formed AI fund ($400m) of Mercato Ventures. Existing sports investors Elysian Park Ventures, Verance Capital and Iconica Partners have increased their stakes during the latest round alongside more unnamed current investors. Greenfly software deals with the aggregation, real-time capture, organisation and the distribution of digital media. Current clients of Greenfly are National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Baseball (MLB), NBA, National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and more, all using Greenfly for short-form content. In 2023, an investment round ended up valuing Greenfly to be worth $42.05m according to S&P Capital IQ database and Greenfly have raised approximately $40m to this day. From NFL wide receiver to sports tech investor, Marques Colston's new play 🏈🚀 Marques Colston, former NFL wide receiver, is getting into the sports tech investment game. After a successful football career, Colston has been coaching, consulting, educating and teaching. Now, together with partner Nick Edwards, he's stepping up to the investment game by launching Champion Venture Partners, a sports cash flow investment and management firm. Their business model differs from other funds in that they invest in growth-stage companies and provide operational support without taking a management fee on assets under management. Investors benefit from the growth of each company and receive dividends generated from operations. Colston advises founders to choose investors who share their long-term vision and athletes to get involved in venture capital to diversify their portfolios.
