During PERDASAMA - Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SMCCI), I was asked on my opinion of the VC industry outlook for Malaysia especially following KL20 and the launch of VC industry blueprint: Our VC scene started in 1992 where Tan Sri Omar Abdul Rahman and Dato' Anuar Mohd Nor pioneered the landscape via establishment of Malaysian Technology Development Corporation. Then, early 2000s, Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad was established and other bank based VC started. Later around 2010's private VC started to flourish. Now, 30 years plus later, I have witnessed progress and repeat re-learn in our VC scene. The newly VC industry masterplan/Roadmap strengthen the capital regulatory and linkages side of the industry. This is a good progress. If we asking for the success of Malaysian VC industry, we need to put efforts on churning "Quality Deal flow". "Deal flow" is the life of any VC operation. But, presence of "abundance quality deal flow" will loud Malaysia itself as the space for VC. Grab, TheLorry and CARSOME are among "quality deal flow" from the country. They are rooted from programs delivered by Cradle Fund and Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC). Thus, a lot lesson learned could be garnered and gathered from past CEOs like Ashran Dato' Ghazi, Dzuleira Abu Bakar, arwah Nazrin Hassan team, etc. for strategizing another round of success in building up "quality deal flow" offering. Building up, ya. Not riding on existing close to success victim 😅. This space is not mere investing. Dato' Anuar Mohd Nor, Dato' Norhalim and "Arwah Nazrin Hassan" are still the leading example. Sharing my write-up for Public Finance class on Enhancing Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) financing through Public-Private Partnership Investment Mechanism. This analysis underscores the critical role of MSME in propelling Malaysia's economic growth and fostering innovation, as well as building the pipeline necessary to position Malaysia as a viable investment destination. This paper highlights case study on Malaysia's co-investment initiative, the Malaysia Co-Investment Fund (“MyCIF”) and draws parallels with the British experience, showcasing the transformative potential of equity-based financing models. Through this exploration, the paper contends that the synergy between public and private investment stands as a linchpin in propelling Malaysia towards economic prosperity and fostering a resilient startup ecosystem.

Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) has announced the expansion of its Global Business Services (GBS) Iskandar @ Medini through two key Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with GBS Malaysia and ITrain Asia, as well as a collaboration with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to strengthen its GBS ecosystem in Medini, Iskandar Puteri.
