PSA: Stop telling people what you strive* to do and tell them what you actually do. I strive to do a lot of things. Like go to sleep at 11:00. And drink healthy smoothies. And eat lots of green things. And have an empty hamper at all times. And build tiny wooden shelters for homeless ladybugs. And knit mittens for impoverished woodland creatures. But do I? No. So do I talk about it? Also no (besides this one time). Because no one cares what I aim to do if I'm not actually doing it. Rant over. *Alternatives that are different but not any better include: We aim to... Our goal is to... We try to...

TIDY TIP Organize with Cozy Comforts and Nesting Instincts: Teamwork February is a great month to focus on making your home cozy. When I think about embracing my nesting instinct, I gravitate toward the bedroom and want the bed to be made and laundry put away. I love to curl up with a book so warmth and coziness around me is the goal. Here is a tip to help you embrace the nesting instinct this month: Make it a group effort: They say teamwork makes the dream work, and the same holds true for maintaining a cozy home. Get your loved ones involved in the process of creating a serene living space. Whether it's decluttering common areas together or organizing personal spaces collaboratively, sharing the effort not only lightens the workload but the combined energy transforms your home. As a professional home organizer, if one of your goals is to declutter and get organized, I can help you. My passion is helping empty nesters and seniors downsize. We work through what should stay or go and where to take the unwanted items. Part of my services include filling my vehicle with donations and hauling them away. Schedule a call with me if you want to take action toward a home organization goal in 2024. I don’t need Valentine’s Day as an excuse to have fresh flowers (although I won’t say no, LOL). Even before Miley sang about it, I’ve been buying myself flowers “just because.” If you could manifest a vase full of your favorites, what’s in your bouquet? #tiptuesday #organizedhome #professionalorganizer #iowaorganizers #desmoines #downsize #midlife #seniors #housegoals

A colleague and I discuss how people today seem more tired and edgy. He commented that many of us are dealing with stress from all sides: job, political, financial, work, family, etc. Some days, I become quite overwhelmed -- with my negative thoughts pinging around out of control. When I feel this way, I tell myself I can't change what's going on, but I can change how I react, as well as the choices I make. (I also head out for a bike ride, which always clears my head.) One of my choices, which I post about frequently, is buying US made items whenever possible. The second choice is supporting causes I care about, one of which is the Essex Greenbelt's Osprey program. Each year I donate $100 toward it -- which may not seem like a lot, but it is. (I've been in fundraising and know any amount is always gratefully received.) Greenbelt, a non-profit land trust, conserves land in MA. I'm thrilled to learn a local woman in Haverhill (town next to mine) has donated two parcels of land totaling 90+ acres. I ride my bike past both a couple times a week and noticed the new Greenbelt sign last week. Hurrah! The parcels are adjacent to two small working farms, so it's wonderful this entire area will remain intact. For those of you who love birds, the Osprey cam in Gloucester, MA is now live: https://lnkd.in/ezwQwxu. Annie and Squam have their first egg, which is very exciting. And, here is the link about the parcels now under Greenbelt management. It may not be local to you, but it's a great example of how we can change our part of the world: https://lnkd.in/eYFc-GgY And, a link to my updated Keep It Made blog Welcome page -- about why I do what I do. This was a little scary for me to write. I'm not used to being, what is for me, so honest in saying what I think. https://lnkd.in/eJeiTYuj #blessings #smallchoices #spring

Building connections with neighbors contributes to a sense of community and can enhance your overall living experience. Here are 5 ways to meet your neighbors: 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐆𝐢𝐟𝐭: Introduce yourself by offering a small welcome gift, like a plate of homemade cookies or a local specialty. Attach a friendly note with your name and contact information. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Attend local community events or neighborhood gatherings. This could be a block party, a homeowners' association meeting, or even a local fundraiser. It's a great opportunity to meet and interact with neighbors. 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: When you see your neighbors outside, take the opportunity to strike up a casual conversation. This could be while checking the mail, gardening, or walking your pet. A simple ""hello"" can go a long way. 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬: Many neighborhoods have online forums or social media groups where residents connect. Join these platforms to introduce yourself, ask questions, or participate in discussions. 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Organize a small get-together or BBQ at your home and extend invitations to your neighbors. It's a relaxed setting that encourages conversation and helps break the ice. #KaediSellsHouses #PiattSothebysInternationalRealty #NewHome #LoveWhereYouLive #Pittsburgh

3wThank you for providing this service and meeting one of the most basic needs we have as humans. A hot shower with soap and shampoo, with a clean change of underwear for afterwards is definitely something that many take for granted but still so many do not have access to.
