Everything starts with one intentional action. I just moved back to Portugal 3 and a half months ago. One of the things I feared was the lack of a BJJ school where I lived. You know, by now, Jiu-Jitsu is not just a hobby for me, as I like to think about it. I don’t just train in Jiu-Jitsu; I do it. It’s not a practice; it's a part of who I am. The thing was, there wasn’t anything around, at least nothing close enough that would be sustainable for me to travel back and forth. I could have resigned myself to this. But I chose to surrender instead, meaning I accepted the situation and moved on. I moved on to think differently. If it didn’t exist, I could create it. Everything started with a flyer posted in a Facebook group. I had nothing but a commitment. I would start BJJ classes – no date, no place, just a firm declaration. I was thrilled with the reception, and with that support, I managed to sustain a strong pitch that led me to secure a place to start classes 2 weeks ago. More than just classes, I am building a supportive community in a region where I had no ties before moving in. I love it. Sometimes, all you need is that intention, to start talking about it, and to act on it. Good things will happen. I would love to know: What’s something you now see as an obstacle that could be viewed as an opportunity instead? My name is Manuel Carreira, a man on a mission to transform Midlife Journey.

What an inspiring story! "Sometimes, all you need is that intention, to start talking about it, and to act on it. Good things will happen." I love this statement. It's a great reminder that we don't always need to have all the details figured out right from the start.
