During my fireside chat on "Mastering Systemic Risks in the Global Energy Arena: Navigating Challenges, Resilience, and Growth," at the 9th Annual Energy Supply Chain & Procurement Summit with Jim Claunch, Expert Partner at Bain & Company, a few questions came up from the audience: How should the industry view systemic risk in the supply chain?  We discussed this is dynamic AND multi-faceted in our fast paced and interconnected world of supplier relationships. Systemic risk is moving from mere compliance to competitive advantage: powering brand, reputation and profitability - a transformation underpinned by new models for supplier collaboration. How can the industry be looking to influence their supplier base vs just have a contractual relationship to push the industry forward in their resilience strategies? We discussed the power of mapping and monitoring your strategic supplier relationships ACROSS your company vs just within stovepipes of projects or business units. What’s next on the horizon for Interos? I appreciated the last question as it allowed me to talk to our excitement of moving our customers from relying on the past – via lagging indicators – to the future via scenario modeling and the use of GenAI. Each of these deserves a full response. Just back from a full – but fulfilling – week on the road building new relationships (and rekindling some old!).   Whilst my career has taken a winding path across different roles, I remain an engineer at heart; driven by translating science to real world applications & value generation for society. Fundamental to this in practice is meaningful partnerships: connecting diverse skills and building strong relationships to address real world challenges. The best part of my job is being able to do this in practice: leveraging the platform bp can offer in access to customers, partnerships and functional capabilities to drive at scale the innovative solutions to society's biggest problems (and opportunities!).   Europe is an important market for bp: whilst we have in motion our low carbon projects & activities supporting transition of our mobility, refining and energy supply, we require new innovation and partners to deliver on net zero. At the #EIC R&I Summit 2024, it was encouraging to see in action the strong support programmes and networks to scale-up these critical solutions. It was an honour to support the judging of the start-up pitching events and build new collaborative opportunities to deliver mutual value.   I then spent 2 days with the inspirational team and new cohort at Unreasonable. Kudos to Daniel Epstein for creating this special space - connecting leading visionaries and building meaningful relationships to drive disruptive impact at scale. Feeling energised by lots of new meaningful opportunities!
