Our capital markets team, led by partner Alejandro A. Gordano, represented Empresa Nacional del Petróleo (Enap) with its USD600 million bond offering and concurrent tender offers with the intention to use the proceeds from the offering, along with existing cash and/or additional financing, to cover the purchase of tendered notes, fees, expenses, and any remaining funds for general corporate purposes. As a state enterprise owned wholly by the Republic of Chile, Enap is involved in the exploration, production, refining, transportation, storage, and wholesale marketing of crude oil, natural gas, refined petroleum products, and liquefied petroleum gas. Support was provided by partners Manuel Orillac, Lorenz Haselberger, associates Gonzalo Robles and Daniel Kachmar, and visiting attorney Moises Gonzalez Arroyo. In my most recent newsletter, I analyzed Tourmaline given its high-quality resource plays & LNG exposure, cost efficiency, and capital allocation. Below are a few of the key points I touched on: - Tourmaline operates in three key areas within the WCSB, with the Montney being the key basin for supplying Canadian LNG - The company recently signed LNG agreements with Trafigura, providing international LNG pricing exposure to Dutch TTF and JKM starting in 2027 - Tourmaline’s quarterly cash and special dividends have increased at an annual average rate of 6% since 2022 despite natural gas prices being down 48%, reflecting its ability to provide consistent shareholder value - I believe Tourmaline has more room to grow based on its EV/EBITDA, EV/DACF, and P/CF multiples. Bloomberg: [...] Grangemouth had an edge over many other refineries — it was at the end of a pipeline bringing the North Sea crude that helped set global prices. But today, even those barrels have lost relevance thanks to an explosion of supply from the US. [...] PetroIneos, the owner of Grangemouth, has decided to shut the refinery as soon as 2025 and convert it to a fuel import-and-export terminal. [...] UK will be left with five refineries after Grangemouth closure. Ineos will retain the chemical operations at the complex. #refining

Interesting to read that Suncor is looking to be taken back in time to when oil firms had greater vertical integration from drill bit to consumer. The expansion of tanker leasing will give Suncor a broader set direct international customers via the addition of controlling the shipping. This is a big step for Suncor in helping improve its margins as well as giving the company a broader world reach. The next step would be to acquire their own ships to facilitate the oil or refined products movement but perhaps that might be a step too far... and given Mr. Kruger's & Mr. Oldreive's past work for ExxonMobil, that may not be something to even consider given that firm's past experience ('#Valdez'). #crudeoil #shipping #oil #diesel Suncor
