This Career Week, we doubled down on our mission to arm our students not only with academic knowledge but also with the practical skills necessary for thriving in a professional environment. #CareerWeek at Lehman YABC is more than just a series of events; it’s a crucial part of our strategy to equip students with the tools they need for life after #HighSchool . We believe that true education extends beyond traditional learning. It’s about preparing our students for #realworld challenges and opportunities. This week, our students engaged in hands-on activities that included building their resumes, understanding the nuances of professional attire, and participating in mock interviews. These activities are essential. A well-crafted #resume opens doors. Knowledge of professional attire adds a layer of confidence. Effective interview skills can be the difference between obtaining a job or missing an opportunity. We ensure our students learn these skills, practice them, and understand their value. We are also changing the daily habits of our students. By incorporating dress codes that encourage style and professionalism, we help our young men and women not only look but also feel the part of budding professionals. Our young men are required to wear a shirt and tie, and our young #Queens , collared shirts. This isn’t about enforcing a uniform; it’s about instilling a sense of style, professionalism, and self-respect. Every parent wants one thing… To see their child become successful. So they always look forward to when they complete important milestones. I know I tell you all a lot about what I’m doing but today let's change it up. I thought it was worth highlighting some people I’ve met with recently who have made me think WOW. Linda Yue and Catherine Swindin: The dream team: 2 x Level 7 qualified CDPs working together to deliver an excellent careers offer at Judd School. I’ve not seen many schools that have TWO employed CDPs who are qualified at this level. The impact is clear. Two passionate careers people brimming with ideas, wanting to do things better each year, curious, and collaborative. I finished my call with them this morning well jel at their ability to constantly bounce ideas off each other and drive change. Looking forward to seeing you both at the Judd School for Year 10 CV workshops soon. Michael Tarrant: Wow, the students at Nexus School LOVE Michael and I can see why. Kind, calm, patient, fun, empowering - an amazing person who students look up to. They were quick to name Michael as someone who would support them and someone they could discuss their plans with. CAREERS IN HISTORY The Careers in History print and video resources highlight the key skills that students develop when they study History and the career pathways they can pursue. This free-to-download suite is designed to help students and parents understand how studying History can lead to strong employment prospects, in-demand skills, personal growth and community well-being. We hope these resources help you inspire young people to continue studying History, or to foster their passion for this wonderful subject. They can be distributed at subject-selection events and careers fairs, posted up in History classrooms and staff rooms, or simply sent to a student who is talking with you about their subject choices.
