Some Facts: 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬: • Median salary for NFL players is ~$860k. • Median salary for NBA players is ~$4.6M. • Median salary for EPL players is ~ €3,106,000. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬: • Only 22% of boxers make over $10k. • Median salary for Top 550 WTA tennis players is ~$75k. • Median salary for Top 1000 ATP tennis players is ~$22k. In 3 weeks the #nrl launch the 2024 season in Las Vegas. Having spent 3 years involved in North American sport with Toronto Wolfpack Rugby League, I can testify how, if done right, this could blow the market wide open, and here's why: Sport in North America is more than just sport, it's a religion - once embedded, fans don't just support their team but live for their team. Collision sports are amongst their most watched sports - there were 1156 billion minutes of NFL / NHL TV watched in 2023. If Rugby Legaue takes even a fraction of this, it's winning. The Money. - and this is what people in the UK, Aus, Europe, NZ couldn't get their heads around when I talked to them about it. Current estimate of the American sports market is 83 Billion dollars. Whilst we were in Toronto there was a team that paid $65m for a player just to bench him, because he was their nemesis. The money involved in North American sport is insane. There are many more reasons - TV deals, Varsity sports, infrastructure, culture....but above all else - I never met a single North American that watched the game and said "mehh, not for me that". Every single person was hooked and that was the reason why in a sports market that had the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club Inc. Toronto Maple Leafs Toronto FC Toronto Argonauts Football Club Toronto Blue Jays we were getting crowds of over 12000 in year 3. It's time for Rugby League to finally spread its wings and show why those of us involved believe it to be the greatest sport on 🌍 !!
