Hello LinkedIn Family,
I'm excited to share with you all my recent experience of leaving Big 4 EY, a dream job for many young professionals and CA's. And let me tell you, it wasn't an easy decision but sometimes you have to listen to your heart and take a leap of faith.
Many of you might be wondering, why would anyone leave such a prestigious company without having a plan B? Well, here's the thing, I never had a plan B. I mean, I was too busy working long hours, meeting deadlines, and crunching numbers that I didn't have time to think about a backup plan.
But let me tell you, it wasn't all about the numbers and long hours. I gained some unforgettable experiences and lifelong lessons during my time at EY. And I'm sure many of you who have worked or are currently working at Big 4 firms can relate.
First of all, have you ever seen the amount of coffee intake at these firms? I'm pretty sure my blood type is now caffeine after working at EY. But that's just a minor sacrifice for being a part of such a prestigious firm, right?
But all jokes aside, working at EY taught me the value of teamwork, dedication, and problem-solving skills. It's not just about working hard, but working smart as well. I remember my first busy season, I thought I had prepared for it all, but nothing could have prepared me for the endless hours of work and juggling multiple projects.
But as they say, time flies when you're having fun. And before I knew it, I completed three successful years at EY.
So, why did I end up leaving? Well, as much as I loved my time at EY, I felt like I needed to take a break and explore other options. We get so caught up in the corporate world that we forget about our personal growth and passions. And let me tell you, leaving without a plan B was definitely not a smart move, but sometimes you have to take a risk to discover your true potential.
And here I am, in between jobs, but happier than ever. I have time to focus on my hobbies, travel, and spend time with my loved ones, which was something I had been missing out on during my time at EY. As they say, when one door closes, another one opens. And who knows, maybe this break will lead me to my dream job or even start my own business.
I know many of you might think I'm crazy for leaving a stable job without a backup plan, and you may be right. But sometimes, we need to listen to our gut and take a leap of faith. Who knows, maybe this break will lead me to my dream job or even start my own business.
So, here's to all the dreamers, risk-takers, and future Big 4 professionals, cheers to the journey and all the lessons that come along with it.
