VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE -William Cowper (1785) Within medical affairs, there is much emphasis on the value of specialization, but what about the “utility player?” Is it advantageous to be solid in a lot of different areas as opposed to an expert in one? MEDAMETHEUS thinks so. My contemplation of this led me to the following items, which are in no particular order, and this is certainly not a comprehensive list: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 🌶️ COMPANY ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE/CULTURE: Not too long ago, I was one of the scientific strategists for a very small R&D company with a single asset evaluated in multiple therapeutic areas over decades. Had I been so laser-focused in one therapeutic application; I would not have been able to assess the viability of and make recommendations for all of their therapeutic tracks. 🌶️ PROBLEM-SOLVING: I have been a part of and built many teams in multiple therapeutic areas. The one common thread for success is that the more functionally diverse and capable teams manage “surprises” with a more resolute, levelheaded, industrious approach. Before you condemn a non-linear professional trajectory, consider that those with broader experiences with “embracing the new” tend to act more prudently in uncertain times. 🌶️ CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION: Regardless of the industry, cross-functional communication and alignment is a key success factor. However, depending on the task and its level of urgency, the optimal scope and frequency of cross-functional collaboration can be elusive, especially if your workforce is fragmented with excessive specialization and/or “siloed.” A more broadly trained or skilled workforce can help reduce “collaboration burnout.” 🌶️ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: One of the keys to successful talent recruitment and retention, is providing opportunities for self-directed or sponsored/mentored professional development. The onus is on employers here, but committing to professional workforce development can help create functional redundancies; thus, reducing employee turnover. Consequently, a more stable workforce that can accommodate a greater variety of tasks and projects more efficiently. 🌶️ TALENT RECRUITMENT & RETENTION: These are major resource investments for any organization of any size. Unfortunately, not all companies do this well, stumbling right out of the gates with disjointed onboarding and training protocols. High employee turnover can stymie project momentum and sabotage workforce morale. Building in redundancy with broadly skilled FTEs in your workforce can ease the pain and costs of inevitable turnover. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 #MEDAMETHEUS #medicalaffairs #consulting #yourutilitypartner #strategy #partnership #vision2030 #versatility #adaptability #embracingthenew

David Bragado shares his story about how teamwork is a great driver for everyday work. “What best describes my experience at IQVIA Biotech? It's having exceptional dedicated teams to work with, along with the feeling of having strong anchored company values. I appreciate the teamwork, sharing knowledge, supporting each other, my clients, possibilities for growth and finally, the ability to work as a team to bring new drugs to the market, for patients in need. One of the studies I have been working on received agencies approvals, allowing patients to be treated with a promising therapy. This is the kind of achievement we work for and can be proud of. I have been able to fully appreciate the great spirit of collaboration at all levels, within all different departments during my time with IQVIA Biotech. It's about sharing experiences, building relationships with colleagues from many countries/regions all over the world, and receiving great support for my daily work and future endeavors.” https://bit.ly/3I16ni0 #Biotech #Teamwork #Colleagues #dreamteam #WeAreIQVIA

IQVIA offers its employees the opportunity to explore new horizons and expand their potential. “Since day one with the IQVIA team, I’ve grown tremendously in my professional life,” IQVIA Senior Consultant Ilze Ayres explains. “At first, the transition from an entrepreneurial environment to a corporate company was overwhelming. But quickly thereafter, I started to tap into the knowledge of the broader IQVIA team. More opportunities evolved for me with the team. Being able to be part of the commercial and consulting team over the years broadened my horizons in so many ways! To be able to collaborate with different departments in the company is an honor and there is no time to stagnate when you are part of the IQVIA family. Every day is a learning experience, in terms of my development.” “IQVIA isn’t a company, it is a family. The support between colleagues (Friends) as well as from management has exceeded my expectations and has been heartfelt. As a Team we all know it is a business and we need to achieve our goals, the positive energy and passion is tangible.” Why did Ilze choose this field? “As a qualified pharmacist patients have always been my passion. I believe we all have been patients ourselves during our lives and therefor I want to make a difference in patients lives. If I can support our clients with different projects to improve patient care, I’ve achieved my goal. I love the clinical challenges within my field, turning data into true information for my clients.” As for life beyond work, “My family is my priority and spending time with them is the most important thing in my live. With three teen age boys and a 23 year old daughter, finding time to do activities together can be challenging, as the kids all have their very own unique schedules and activities. We make time to enjoy nature and walk the dogs on the farm, that is the best bonding time.” “The freedom of riding my Harley Davidson on the open road is exhilarating and a great way of forgetting all the troubles in the world and just focus on myself.” Learn more about work and life at IQVIA: jobs.iqvia.com

Still early on at Fierce Pharma Clinical Summit but have already heard two sponsors mention "site staff augmentation" - fancy words for providing staffing resources for sites (I think). How do sites feel about this? While I love the concept, I've had terrible experiences with it and it's complicated to integrate new staff, especially when it may not be "your" employee. Anyone have good or bad experiences to share? #clinicaltrials #clinicalresearch

Here it is, the last day of winter 2024. To close our #iqviawintervibes, I would like to join our February marathon too and share why I love to work at IQVIA: 1) PEOPLE: This was and still is the most important aspect for me. From team members to my Hiring Managers, I am lucky to work with the most amazing people. I would like to express my special kudos to Marina Nagornaya (Strelkova) for being my everyday inspiration in the HR field. I learn so much from you just by watching how you tackle even the most difficult situations. To Irina Krasnitskaya, you are my superhero, and I am honored to name you my friend. Jose Carlo Pichon Lubo, thank you for being my "TA bro" :) You are one of the best Sourcers and true Talent Magnet. 2) PEOPLE-ORIENTED CULTURE: No matter how tough the times get, the company is always there to support and care for employees. Being with IQVIA for over a decade now, I can give numerous examples of decisions and actions that have been made. I also appreciate the company's focus on promoting a healthy work-life balance and providing resources for professional development. There have been many great initiatives and implementations during the last few years that were focused on these aspects. Leave a comment if you want to know more about it. I am happy to share some examples. 3) LEADER OF THE INDUSTRY: I am personally very picky when it comes to selecting a company where I want to work. The company's focus on innovation and excellence in the industry is inspiring. And at the end of the day, it is so cool to call candidates and say, "You have an opportunity to join the Number One company in our industry." Do you want to join IQVIA and feel our vibes too? Helios Clinical Research is a rapidly growing organization aiming to regularly add and onboard new sites. Unfortunately, their methods for feasibility and other key processes have historically been site-based and lacked a cohesive, centralized plan. With plans to continue ramping up the onboarding of new sites, the leadership team at Helios realized they required a solution to centrally manage their clinical trial processes across all sites in their network. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐋 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 With PROPEL for central team members and LYNK for site-based staff, Helios can manage their business development pipeline, track trial progress, and communicate with sites on one shared platform. By leveraging central support and gaining oversight into site-based processes, Helios is now a fully integrated clinical site network.
