🌟 Call for Partners: Join “PREDICT” , a Public-Private Partnership in data-driven ingredient processing and application 🌟 organized by Next Food Collective and Wageningen University What if you could forecast the minimum level of processing required to obtain a functional plant-based ingredient for your food application? What if you could accelerate your product development by using predictive models for ingredient behavior? This project is being shaped by industry partners as dsm-firmenich, Upfield and Unilever, among others. They are coming together with strong knowledge partners to build capabilities and joint platform to change the way we process crops to ingredients and formulate ingredients to foods! Project Overview: This initiative is designed to leverage state-of-the-art technology and data science methodologies to systematically identify the functionality of differently processed (plant)-based ingredients and create predictive models on their use in food formulation. Our goal is to ease the usage of more sustainable, less processed ingredients and uncover promising properties for the targeted production of new ingredients, thereby contributing to the development of great tasting and more sustainable food products. We are open to: Food Industry: Companies (aiming to) excell in functional low footprint ingredients and with a strong background in food science and/or data analytics. Technology: Companies expertise in high throughput screening technology and big data solutions. Empowering farmers: OP2B's approach to finance the transition to regenerative landscapes 🌱🌍   🌾 The transition to regenerative agriculture is essential for more resilient agriculture and food systems. Regenerative agriculture makes it possible to produce more than enough food to nourish a growing population while staying within planetary boundaries and offering a profitable business model for farmers. To accelerate the transition, it's imperative to shift our attention from individual farms to the broader landscape context. That's why OP2B is spearheading workshops specifically geared towards finance and de-risking strategies at the landscape level. 📊 On May 28th, OP2B hosted the first of these workshops to scale up and finance regenerative landscape initiatives in Europe. Over 40 participants assessed six promising landscape initiatives: West of France by Livelihoods Venture, Grand Est by agrosolutions, East of England by 3Keel, Altiplano Estepario by Commonland and @Aland Foundation, Navarre by EIT Food, and the Netherlands by Next Food Collective. The discussions highlighted the need for bold leadership, robust business cases for farmers, transparent data and metrics, and engaging financial actors for co-investment. Financing is complex, requiring a mix of public funding, private investments, and new business models for ecosystem services at the landscape level. ➡️ The next closed-door workshop will focus on the conditions for finance to scale up regenerative landscapes and de-risk the transition for farmers and other actors in the value chain. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗿𝗮𝗽!! What a fantastic first Annual Meeting!! Thank you to all partners present at the Next Food Collective Annual Meeting 2023 at Unilever Foods Innovation Centre 'Hive', Wageningen today the 3rd of November. The afternoon was packed with networking opportunities, inspiring conversations about strategy, directions and new ideas. All focussed on how we as a collective can accelerate the transitions to sustainable food systems and healthy diets. We also took the opportunity to congratulate the ReGeNL core team with getting the investment from the National Growth Fund for the ReGeNL programme and thanked them for all their hard work in preparing the proposal and getting the (now) 54 partners together. Today we took the first steps in moving from vision to reality.
