The most important actual lesson I learned from my short time in the Corps was "Own it". Own your mistakes, problems, weaknesses because they are yours to keep or to fix, it's on you and it's ok to ask for help. Grateful to the USMC to this day because if I didn't learn how to keep.a cool head from Parris Island, my family might not have been able to navigate when the Russians attacked us here in Kyiv. Semper Fidelis and thank all of you who maintain the Marine Corps Code.

One of the biggest challenges the Marines Corps has is de-stigmatizing mental health. As much as we don't like to admit it, seeking help for Mental Health will either end your career, or you will be ostracized and looked down upon for being weak by many people in your command. I lost one of my best friends to suicide, he was an amazing NCO and we went from LCpl to Sgt together. I hope that we can see a major culture change.

As a retired Marine, this message is the most meaningful one you have ever put out. I wish it had come 15 years ago but I will take it. Thank you my family.

This is a solid and impactful message on PTS and how it occur even in the strongest of us. I do hope many of our fellow warriors seek counselling and help where needed (and even a few that don't think they need it.) The concept of post-traumatic stress has negative stigmas in both military and civilian areas as defined by the D in the PTSD acronym. The fact is that all of us likely have experienced PTS from some experiences in military, civilian, or personal lives, this does not make us a victim with a disorder, it just makes us human. We need to focus on helping people move forward after PTS through post-traumatic stress growth (PTSG/PTG) counselling.

Amen - we must embrace mental health as much as we embrace good physical health. They are interconnected.

Had to dumb down answers on all these post combat deployment/routine surveys. Got more honest as time when by, however. Also, created a lot of self doubt, too. "It only happens to other people".

An event or incident may cause some sort of trauma, but, let that not define you as who you are. All storms will run out rain and pass. When it’s over, many times, a colourful rainbow 🌈 will stretch across the sky as nature’s reminder that life goes on. No storm will ever last forever if you don’t allow it in your mind.
