Deadline: April 10, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Pacific time Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) works to advance equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression through the inclusion of people of all genders, including women, in Canada’s economic, social and political life. Context for the call for proposals Although much progress has been made in Canada towards protecting rights and improving equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities, stigma and discrimination persist, and drive long-standing and ongoing inequities for 2SLGBTQI+ people in Canada. Under Canada's first federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan, funding has been made available to support work by 2SLGBTQI+ organizations to address barriers to 2SLGBTQI+ equality. Objective of the call for proposals The objective of this call for proposals is to advance the equality of 2SLGBTQI+ people. Community-informed projects will address needs and barriers to equality. Here are some examples of projects that align with this call for proposals: Improve Indigenous 2SLGBTQI+ people's access to resources and supports adapted to their needs. Identify and address barriers to resources and supports. Amplify trans voices in 2SLGBTQI+ communities. Address barriers to their access to leadership positions in the community.

#TalkaboutitTuesday: Did you know that April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month? It takes a village to protect our children. When we know what the "signs" are, we can take action by reporting "suspicious behavior and visual signs." A quick Google search will provide you with your local number! My Why 🤔 Sexual abuse happens more often than we think or know (it's NOT reported🤐) AND is typically happening within the family dynamics that include "close" family friends. I have personal experience, two generations. It is crucial to educate ourselves and others about protecting our children. Here's what the Whitehouse has to say: https://lnkd.in/etF9CHbn Our What as a Community and as a Citizen I believe it is our responsibility to be aware and vigilant in preventing child abuse. This can be as simple as recognizing the signs of abuse and reporting it or advocating for policies that protect our children. Again! Do a Google search for your local Child Advocacy Center (CAC) to learn HOW to support the critical programs they provide to help those who have experienced abuse ~ side note: many typically work hand in hand with law enforcement during the investigation process to gather evidence for prosecution. My local CAC is Kids House of Seminole, located in Sanford, Florida. If you want to learn more about the organization https://www.kidshouse.org/ or want to know what I have done or do ~ comment "Tell Me More" ~~~ I will send you a message so we can chat! 😉 Together, we can make a difference and create a safer world for our children. #ChildAbusePreventionMonth #ProtectOurChildren #SpreadAwareness

Evidence tells us that most people experiencing family violence will reach out to their family, friends or someone they work with first. That could be you. Ask. Listen. Believe. These 3 small actions can have a big impact. We all have a role in recognising and responding to family violence, where we live, work and play. So today, on ‘Are You Safe at Home? Day’, start the conversation. Start small, open up the conversation, listen and offer support. Fine out more: https://ow.ly/EcZo50Rz7MA Safe and Equal #AreYouSafeAtHome

Run Against Violence: A Journey of Hope and Action In 2017, Kirrily Dear ran 1,300km from Broken Hill to Sydney – 19 days, one voice for the millions affected by family violence. Family violence impacts us all, especially children. We launched this movement to give them a platform, to break the silence. Why Broken Hill to Sydney? This route symbolizes the widespread nature of the issue, connecting communities across Australia. The 1,300km distance represents the estimated 1.7 million Australians who experienced physical abuse before age 15. The 1st Virtual Challenge & Beyond: Born alongside Kirrily's run, our virtual challenge lets walkers and runners globally join the fight. Today, it's the world's largest virtual team event, uniting thousands for a common goal. Listen, Learn, Talk. End Family Violence. Our efforts are working. After the 2017 challenge, 59% of participants reported having more conversations and sharing resources about prevention. Every step, every voice counts! Run Against Violence is more than a run. We're a community building healthy, inclusive spaces free from violence. We partner with NAPCAN to empower teens with knowledge about healthy relationships through the Love Bites program. Join us! Many gathered last Thursday for an emotional and empowering candlelight vigil that honored survivors of domestic violence and honored those who did not escape the tragic outcome imposed on them-death. The atmosphere was heavy with both the weight of the experiences shared and the warmth of community support. Those present listened intently to the courageous stories shared by survivors. Their words were a reminder of the strength it takes to not only endure the violence but also to stand up and speak out. Witnessing these deeply personal stories had a transformative impact on everyone present. From supporters to family members and even those who merely came to learn about domestic abuse. The narratives encouraged us all to become champions for the voiceless and soldiers for change. There was a point where the word 𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐄 was emphasized. It reminded us that together we can foster HOPE and create lasting change. It reminded us that to cultivate HOPE we need to take meaningful action. As we move forward and wrap up the month dedicated to Domestic Violence Awareness, let's be diligent and continue to amplify the stories, provide safe spaces for healing, and relentlessly pursue a future free from domestic abuse. Let's cultivate an environment of 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. __________________________________________________________ If you are inspired to help us continue these services to those most vulnerable, please consider making a donation at https://lnkd.in/gurtjGDN.
