This #WomenInMedicineMonth, we're not just celebrating individual achievements, but the strength and unity of our community of women physicians. Together, they form a formidable network of knowledge, compassion, and dedication. Being a woman in medicine isn't just about personal milestones. It's about lifting each other up, creating mentorship pathways, and ensuring that every woman physician feels seen, heard, and valued. Watch this video featuring women doctors from the Doximity community sharing their perspectives on what it means to be part of this empowering community. 💖 Join me in celebrating National Women's Health Week! 🩺 As the local Go Red for Women Director with the American Heart Association, every day I think about the importance of women's health. Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. While it kills more women than all forms of cancer combined, only 44% of women recognize that cardiovascular disease is their greatest health threat The theme of #NationalWomensHealthWeek this year is "Empowering Women, Cultivating Health: Celebrating Voices, Wellness, and Resilience." The simple truth is- most cardiac and stroke events can be prevented through education and lifestyle changes, such as moving more, eating smart, and managing blood pressure. We know that women face unique health issues at every age and stage of their lives and education is critical to empowering women to be their own health advocates. I'm proud to share this video of a handful of incredible survivors and voices for women's heart health. Two really powerful lines in this video continue to stick with me: 💬 "As I got older, I made the decision to put my health first so I could be there for all of my son's special firsts" 💬 "I've made it this far, and I still have so much more I want to experience in life. That's why as I age and change, so do the ways I care for my heart health." When we come together and empower each other, women are unstoppable. Self-care is NOT selfish! Join me in spreading awareness and support for women's health this week and beyond. Together, we can make a difference! #NationalWomensHealthWeek #WomenEmpowerment #HealthEquity 🌺💪🏽🩺 https://lnkd.in/erJ3Fr_s

Never apologise for being a woman. Be the best version of yourself that you can be and strive for your aspirations and dreams.” You can also read a blog she’s written here: https://buff.ly/3TtDUI0
