WHAT A BLAST! Our first 2024 TSRP Bootcamp went off without a hitch! This year, we're only doing TWO BOOTCAMPS. This week, our Western WA bootcamp had about 30 attendees. Our expert faculty consisted of yours truly, my eastern WA counterpart, experts from the State Trooper Impaired Driving command staff, Seattle Police Department , SnoCo leadership, our State Toxicologist, and our Tox Lab Commander. We administered numerous legal training modules, a wet lab, training on the breath test instrument, ignition interlock devices, ethics, jury selection, and appellate implications of expert witness confrontation issues. Grasping these concepts helps in interpreting officers' statements and actions during investigations

When you’re cross-examining a witness, it’s easy to pick holes in their evidence. Even if everything they say is true, there will be things they don’t remember because they weren’t important. It’s the same when criticising the acts of others: much easier to snipe from the safety of non-responsibility. But the Civil Procedure Rules require those who deny an allegation to put forward their positive case as to what actually happened, and the same should be required in argument: #WWYD? What would YOU do? Because if you can’t answer that question, then no matter how little you like the status quo, it could be the best answer there is.
