Today should have marked my 26th wedding anniversary, but it wasn't meant to be. I married for life, embracing the traditional values my dad always said I held. On June 6, 1998, I took my vows in a beautiful church in Yorkshire, the same church where my parents married on July 7, 1984. For many years, I was unhappy without realising it, numb and lost in my identity, enduring more than I should have. Eventually, I had a difficult conversation with my husband and initiated divorce proceedings. This experience is similar to being stuck in a job you no longer enjoy, a job you only intended to stay in for a few years while you rebuilt your confidence and learned new skills after a career break to raise your family. Sometimes, we need a reality check and a difficult conversation with our managers or employers. Life is too short to be miserable, watching the clock and wondering what's next. People who write GRATITUDE posts while leaving a company/institution should also mention the REAL reason behind quitting the company/ institution. Rather than knowing the people who inspired you while working there, the professional community would be more interested in understanding where to avoid drawing inspiration. No need to give names, hints work best for us. Furthermore, it is rare to see employers expressing gratitude towards former employees for their dedicated efforts. It is almost invariably the employees who show appreciation with long posts and too many names (50% of them are just nominal). This can be characterised as a quintessential "One-sided relationship" that ultimately turned toxic. It is almost like an ex Daughter-in-law posting a gratitude post after divorce appreciating the in-laws and relatives for the time she spent in their place. Time to turn the tables.

Whenever I’m at a family reunion, there’s always someone who asks, “How do you come up with different voices for your jobs?” When I tell them that I don’t actually “come up” with them, I often get puzzled looks. So, I explain it like this: Imagine you come over to my house for a party. I open the door, there’s laughter, music, and everyone’s having a great time. You greet me with a cheerful, “Hey!!” Now, imagine you’re coming to my house for a funeral. I open the door, and you see people quietly milling around, the atmosphere is somber. You still say “Hey,” but in a completely different tone. Same word, same person, even the same house—but the circumstances have changed. That’s all I do with my voice work. The key is putting yourself in that new situation, and the voice naturally follows. Today is my 4th Wedding Anniversary and they say that "Behind every great man is a great woman." 😍 Whereas I cannot profess to be great, I can say my wife has certainly helped me with my life and career goals. I think every person who has a supportive partner can achieve better things. 1. She has pushed me to be more careful, considerate and tactful. She warns me about how my confidence levels can be mistaken for arrogance and brings me down when needed. 2. She reminds me of our shared goals and how we plan to get there. When I am down, she picks me up. When I am up, she keeps me grounded. When I am doubtful she helps me believe! 3. We challenge each other and push each other to reach the next level of our goals. We refelct on our pasts and how far we have come. We discuss and debate issues and we fight, but only to win. 4. When I am feeling, acting or being lazy she shows me with her work ethic and professionalism that I need to keep up. She keeps me competitive and driven. 5. She is there to listen to my problems and make suggestions on how to deal with them.
