I am concerned about the hiring practices in healthcare trust regarding ward managers. A ward manager plays a crucial role in directing operations on a ward. Without prior experience as an HCA, it may be challenging to handle ward operations effectively. It's essential to have bottom-level experience to ensure seamless management. #Healthcare #Management #Experience

Why we failed on some projects? 1. Failure to select right team members - We give preference to job less people as company policy & we miserablly failed there 2. We selected wrong customers those who gave wrong commitment on investments & their vision & didn't fulfilled the same 3. We selected hospital owners, staff those who have not understood our mission & vision Now we are more wise with our experience & understanding of five years. One of the best parts of this journey in career bachelorhood is finding clarity. Clarity with what I want to do to build on and apply my strengths in a job. That ultimately led me to focus on customer success within healthcare. Even though I’m open to other industries if it were to arise, I’m rather focused on healthcare. My education was in health policy and I loved the program. I wanted to be part of fixing health systems but learned that it is too big of an undertaking to make as much a difference as I envisioned. Instead of helping one system I figured I could help multiple systems and clinics as a CSM. It’s hard to get a whole system better. Being able to have an expertise and enhance one specific area in multiple systems though allows for a greater impact. Not only will it help the staff and system but also the patient experience. Why do NHS managers do dumb things when we don’t go out of our way to hire idiots? Could they be good people with bad incentives? A while back I was involved in a collaboration between NHS managers and GPs. At coffee we were chatting, and the GPs were saying: “You lot aren’t as stupid as we thought”. The managers replied: “And you lot aren’t as aggressive and difficult as we thought”. Understanding GPs is easy because we have just two jobs. Look after our patients and make enough money to keep our practices afloat. Playing nice with others is not required unless it helps one of the above. But what about the managers? How do you explain them saying there is no money to appoint permanent staff and then continually paying over the odds for consultants and agency workers? Or sacking highly experienced people with critical knowledge only to replace them with equally expensive hires who don’t have a clue. Why are good ideas strangled by meetings and red tape? It starts to make sense when you look at the rules of the game they are playing. All projects must look good. Do not admit to mistakes. Never disappoint your superiors. Always appear to be in control. Things must only get better. Disguise bad news. Move on before any problems arise. Blame people not systems for errors. Short term success is all that matters. Popularity is more important than results. So, what are we to do? Edwin Jesudason rightly argues that candour and consent will improve the behaviour of NHS management. But unless we fix the incentives that drive management decisions then good people will do bad things because that is what the system encourages them to do.
