This move strengthens their existing partnership formed in April 2023. By combining technology and human expertise, PwC aims to enhance client offerings and productivity. It was my privilege to keynote the LAWYERS ASSOCIATED WORLDWIDE America’s Conference held last week in Seattle Washington.  The topic: "The Evolution of Generative AI Applied to Legal Services" -- an area where our PwC Legal Business Solutions team shines. I covered the current state of play, possibilities and probabilities as the rapid advancements unfold in relation to the underlying technology of #GenAI applied to #legalservices delivery. The discussion centered around three critical pillars that are shaping the future of legal services: 💥 GenAI’s Role in Legal Practice + The capabilities of GenAI are enhancing legal research, making it more streamlined than ever. + Document drafting and case analyses are being revolutionized, offering robust support to lawyers. + Ethical considerations and practical challenges were discussed, highlighting the need for a balanced approach to AI utilization. 💥 Embracing AI in Legal Services + We delved into the current adoption rates and innovative uses of generative AI by top law firms. + The discussion included the benefits clients are experiencing thanks to AI integration in legal services. + Best practices for AI implementation and real-world examples provided a practical perspective. +It is still early days and we see more on the side of efficiency gains than leveraging for substantive legal domain advisory. That will change. +There is still a lot of reluctance – and the key take away is that the Human in the Loop is always paramount. 💥 Navigating AI Regulation in Law +The presentation then delved into an overview of regulatory approaches and the role of legal professional organizations in AI governance including how North American courts are adapting to AI and the evolving standards, frameworks, and trends in AI regulation. + Lawyer duties focussed on principles of competence, confidentiality and privacy are very important -- as they always have been. Seattle was the perfect venue given its innovative bent -- and I was pleased to catch up with local friends and colleagues. It was a thrill to be invited and I’m looking forward to attending at the EMEA conference in Lisbon later this month with a lens centred on Europe, Africa and Middle East.
