For families staying in temporary accommodation, access to an oven or hob is not a guarantee. This is unacceptable. Everyone deserves the right to cook healthy and nutritious food. Shared Health are an organisation working to reduce health inequalities in areas of deprivation. I struggle to share the example of a charity's volunteer fundraising group in this video because it makes me weep. You do your beneficiaries a disservice by not proactively promoting opportunities for them to help! When I encourage non-profits to galvanize support of the people they help there is sometimes resistance from the front line staff or trustees. They care about their people and are fearful that they may be made to feel guilty or obligated to help. For 35 years I have fundraised for charities, managed a UK team and supported dozens of them with my business. I have never once had a sniff of anyone who felt driven by unwholesome reasons to fundraise or donate. There are tried and tested methods which make sure that people not only just give for the joy of giving, but also receive higher level benefits in return. Forming volunteer fundraising groups which includes the people you help can be life-changing for them, and a game-changer for your charity. With a little guidance and direction they fundraise better than a good professional fundraiser can. They are the people that: ◾ Can best convey the struggles they face through storytelling that will touch hearts. ◾ Can best help prospects understand the tangible difference they will make by donating. ◾ Are most believable and authentic. ◾ Are most highly driven to improve lives and bring about change. Something to consider for all those sustainable & environmentally conscious people & companies out there 🎄 Christmas Jumpers: 💷 12 million are bought every year in the UK 🗑 25% are worn once before being binned 😲 95% are made up completely or partially from plastic Now the irony is, Save the Children UK promote a "Christmas Jumper Day" to raise funds for the charity. Promoting such an event is going to have a much bigger environmental impact on future generations (todays children). 🛍️ Using charity shops is another way to get involved with charitable causes. 📢 The UK Giving Report reveals interesting insights about charity shop engagement in 2022: - More than half (55%) of people hadn't visited a charity shop recently. - Nearly a third (32%) donated clothes or goods. - A quarter (24%) made a purchase. - 2% volunteered. These mixed levels of engagement highlight the potential for increased involvement. Nonetheless, charity shops are important for charities because they: ✅ Generate Funds: Provide a steady income to support charitable activities and programs.  ✅ Promote Sustainability: Encourage recycling and reuse, reducing waste.  ✅ Increase Awareness: Raise public awareness about the charity's mission.  ✅ Engage Communities: Foster community involvement through volunteering and donations.  ✅ Offer Affordable Goods: Provide low-cost items to those in need, benefiting local communities.
