SOME GOOD OLE WONDERFUL NEWS TO SHARE

UCONN won back to back National Championships on the back of a WE vs ME culture. Don’t get it twisted. This is what it takes for individual and organizational success. The kids on that team, even the ones who didn’t play a lot of minutes, are going to be better off in the long term than the kids and parents who don’t buy in to this. The victims can get short terms wins. Move teams/companies because of external forces they blame for their own failure. Coach doesn’t like me. He’s not playing me in the position I should be in. I’m not putting up the numbers I could because my territory sucks. This base salary is higher than that one, this school has more NIL money than that one. Short term and individual mindsets feel better at the time, but lead to long term mediocre or poor results. The folks on here telling you otherwise are full of crap. There isn’t an organization, in business/sports/military, that has sustained long term success with out members that put the organization before themselves. And there isn’t an individual whose had long term success in business, sports, military that doesn’t put their organization before themselves. Except for people that get paid based on impressions and likes. #DialedIn #AllGasNoBrakes

WSJ: Three Olympians stand on their stair-step pedestals, in order of victory. Who’s the most miserable? Second place. Whether an athlete eyeing the gold medalist, or an executive who narrowly lost out on a corner office job, the runner-up’s mental refrain is the same, notes executive coach Brad Stulberg: “I just almost made it.” And quickly, “you start to wonder, well, am I ever going to make it?”  Call it the curse of the silver medalist. You survive rounds of interviews, collecting positive feedback all the while, only to be told your résumé is missing a key ingredient. Or the promotion went to somebody whose “turn” it was. Or, you’re given no explanation at all.  More people are feeling the sting. Companies that rushed into the hiring frenzy of 2021 and 2022 are now carefully calibrating their staffing levels. Some are culling middle managers, leaving fewer opportunities to ascend. The percentage of people promoted at U.S. employers reached 7.3% in 2022, according to data from payroll-services provider ADP. In 2023, it dropped to 6.5%.

Every year, I eagerly follow the NCAA March Madness tournament, drawn in by the impressive player resumés showcasing their on-court achievements. Having assisted numerous collegiate athletes, former Olympians, and hopefuls in new chapters of their professional lives, I am keenly aware of their accomplishments OFF the court, (as well as the field, ice, and track) while working on their resumés. What often goes unnoticed by other soon-to-be college graduates and working professionals is that they, too, are impactful performers in their own right. While their stage might not be as grand, their work-related successes, community involvement, and teamwork garner equal recognition on their resumés. When considering your marketability and career path, envision yourself as your OWN PERSONAL BRAND and what your unique blend of experiences and achievements can significantly contribute to an organization's success and growth! #careerdevelopment #careerstrategy #resumewriting #careercoaching

This seems simple, but football CAN NOT be your sole main decision making tool. It HAS to be a comprehensive decision. In the grand scheme of your adult life ‘playing’ football will be a small part in terms of time spent. Obviously that’s a pivotal time in life, but you will spend the majority of your life in your career. For most that career won’t be in football. This is why the networks you build in college and have from being an alum are crucial. There’s a saying that goes ‘Your network is your net worth’. So I encourage all of you to do a deep dive into the college’s industries & alumni networks and make this a FOCUS in your college recruiting decision.
