Tokenization of agriculture will take a lot of time and effort, but Henry Duckworth highlights the potential in this article. Tokenization means that an asset is represented by a token on a blockchain. When the asset is transferred (e.g. by delivery into a warehouse), the token is also transferred. What's the benefit? Tokens can provide additional transparency and improve efficiency. Payments, for example, could be automatically triggered when a token is transferred. Agriculture is just one industry where this concept can be implemented. While there are a lot of hurdles still to overcome, it's worth looking at the general idea already – because it's very possible that tokenization and blockchains will be much more important than today in the not-too-distant future. #tokenization #blockchain #technology #innovation #smartcontracts
