The proprietary additives developed by Nemo Nanomaterials are based on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) and can be mass produced in order to supplement a large range of parts. The company’s new production line will allow it to produce 50 tons of its NemoBLEND annually, while already planning a new facility that will allow it to produce hundreds of tons each year – expected to go online in 2025. Nature can serve as a source of inspiration for structured materials but also as a primary source of biomaterials. Fibrillar cellulose can mimic natural optimized scattering systems such as the network structure found in the Cyphochilus beetle. Its lightweight, 5μm thin scales serve as nature's strongest scattering material, creating the brightest white on the smallest scale. We develop brilliantly white pigments from cellulose, as an alternative to titanium dioxide the most widely used white pigment. Cement production is one of the most CO2 emitting industries. UN's SDG 11 is another critical area, where we contribute with products such as Bluesil® silicone and Silgrain® silicon, focused on developing sustainable cities and communities. Some of our Bluesil® RT Foam silicone range is patented and used for battery thermal management in EVs. Other Bluesil® products are used for insulation and protection of cables in EV and hybrid vehicles. Silgrain® silicon is used as raw material to produce polysilicon, which in turn is used to produce solar cell panels. In line with UN's SDG 3, our Silbione® silicone range contributes to the development of technology used to prevent disease, fight illness, and improve lives, with applications such as prosthetics and biomedical silicones.
