There are new jobs and then there are new jobs. This morning is my first as the board member for sales, marketing and after sales of Volkswagen. Few brands have a history like #Volkswagen. And not one has remained as approachable and likeable. Our vision is to build on this to become the world’s leading volume brand. And this path to leadership demands action.   I can’t think of a more exciting time to be taking on the challenge of turning that vision into a reality. We are undergoing the most significant transformation in #VW’s history – from pure car manufacturer to software-based mobility provider. That requires deep and rapid change, which my global team and I will drive. With speed, with pragmatism and with passion.    Looking forward from this Monday, I can’t wait to start working constructively with my new team. We are taking on a lot ­– but I am confident that we will deliver what we promise.

Today marks the beginning of a new era for #Ford in Europe. We are starting mass production of the new all-electric #FordExplorer at our #Cologne Electric Vehicle Center. Following a $2 billion investment the team has transformed a historic plant, founded in 1930, into a state-of-the-art factory of the future. This is a significant step on the road to producing a new generation of high-quality electric passenger vehicles in Europe for our customers across Europe. Great to welcome news anchor Pinar Atalay from RTL Deutschland at our #Cologne Electric Vehicle Center yesterday. Great discussion with Peter Campbell at the Financial Times Future of the Car summit in London. Whereever I go these days I am being asked about the uncertainties of the transformation to EVs, hurdles and new competitors.
