I recently did a piece of work for Mazda Motor Europe / Mazda North American Operations - looking at how to platform and support the brilliant women racing drivers who compete in various MX-5 championships. We're moving into a brilliant era for women in motorsport, and the women I worked with on this are clear evidence of this. One of the reasons that I do everything I can to support women racing drivers - apart from the fact that they're badass and deserve every bit of recognition - is because it's my firm belief that the more role models that we have on the track, the sooner we'll completely dispel the myth that women don't make phenomenally good drivers. And the more women who start believing in themselves behind a wheel, the more confidently they'll start buying the cars that they want, rather than just the ones they're occasionally marketed... As an F1 fan, this is a highlight worth mentioning! My first race live at the Italian GP in Monza! 🏎️ Besides Formula 1 being the high-speed showcase of supercars, I see Formula 1 as a metaphor for innovation because it embodies several key elements that parallel the innovation process in various industries. 💡 Why? Use of cutting-edge technologies: The F1 teams constantly push the boundaries of technology and engineering to gain a competitive advantage. They invest heavily in research and development, which mirrors the commitment to innovation in other industries. Continuous improvement: Formula 1 teams never stop trying to improve their performance. They regularly iterate on their designs, strategies, and processes, which is a core principle of innovation. Speed: Formula 1 is known for its rapid pace of development, with teams introducing new components and upgrades throughout the season. This agility in responding to changing conditions and adapting to new challenges can inspire other industries to accelerate their innovation cycles. Competition and working under pressure: F1 is a highly competitive sport where teams are under immense pressure. Similarly, competition in business often drives companies to innovate in order to stay ahead. Collaboration: Building a Formula 1 car involves a diverse group of experts in multiple fields such as aerodynamics and mechanics. This interdisciplinary collaboration is a model for innovation in other sectors, where combining different areas of expertise can lead to breakthroughs. Global Stage: Formula 1 is a spectacle that attracts fans and sponsors from around the world. It serves as a platform to showcase cutting-edge technology on an international stage, much like how innovative solutions gain attention in the global marketplace. Whether it's on the race track or in the business world, Formula 1 shows us how innovation is the key to success! 🏁 On a different note, my hope is to witness the first female race driver in F1 in this lifetime. An employee of Audi Museum casually referred to Michèle Mouton as 'that French lady who did rallying too.' This casual remark struck a chord with me and inspired me to share the story of this remarkable woman, whose achievements in the world of motorsport are nothing short of extraordinary. Michèle Mouton, a trailblazing figure in rally driving, is not just any 'French lady.' She is a woman who shattered glass ceilings in a sport dominated by men. Her journey in the world of rally began in 1973, and she quickly made a name for herself with her incredible skill and determination. In 1981, Mouton joined Audi and became the first woman to win a round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) at Rallye Sanremo, Italy. This victory was not just a win; it was a statement to the world about the capabilities and potential of women in motorsports. Her time with Audi was marked by her mastery of the Audi Quattro, a revolutionary car with over 300 horsepower and four-wheel drive. She showed the world that not only could a woman handle such a powerful machine, but she could also outperform her male counterparts. Mouton's legacy extends beyond her racing victories. Kateyama is pleased to announce the technical partnership established with Pirelli for the 2024 season. The collaboration between Kateyama and Pirelli began in 2023 and allowed us last year to guarantee a high-quality service and assistance in the paddock to the single-seater teams who chose our Professional Track Days. Considering the results achieved with this #collaboration, we are proud to announce the renewal of the agreement for the 2024 season and the extension of the presence of Pirelli also in Professional Track Days dedicated to GT, Touring and Prototypes, as well as in test days open to Formula cars (as in 2023). As part of this collaboration, a Pirelli tire service station will be set-up in the paddock during most of our Professional Track Days taking place in the main European racetracks. Pirelli will take care of the transport, assembly, and disassembly of tires, assisting teams and thus facilitating their activities. With the renewal of this agreement, we also renew our environmental efforts to make our activities more #sustainable. Pirelli is committed to recovering used tires for future recycling, a project we deeply care for, which reduces the environmental impact in our test days.
