VP Head of Talent & DE&I at Protective Life

Pretty pumped to introduce you to Avery Perry one of our Talent Acquisition Specialists here at Protective Life. Avery is full of cheer, smiles and recruitment expertise. We are so glad that she decided to join our team 6 months ago. Learn more about Avery below: What did Avery do before Protective? Avery graduated from the Honors College at The University of Alabama in May of 2020 with her B.S in Management & Human Resources and has spent the last four years in HR, Talent Acquisition, and Campus Recruitment roles. How long has she been with Protective? Why did she choose Protective? What keeps Avery here? Avery is the newest member of our TA/DE&I team and celebrated her 6 month work anniversary in March. Being a Birmingham native, Avery was aware of Protectives' reputation for community engagement, service, and employee satisfaction. When she saw a job opening promoted to her on LinkedIn, she knew that she had to apply. After joining the team in September, Avery is very happy with her decision. If she had to choose one thing that keeps her at Protective, it would be the support from her fellow teammates.   What excites Avery about her work at Protective? While Avery is passionate about everything she does, she has found a unique satisfaction in matching candidates and students with opportunities at Protective. Avery pursued HR and Talent Acquisition because of her desire to make a difference in a major aspect of most people’s lives and work. To her, each internship or entry level job represents a life-changing opportunity for the person selected. She is very impressed with Protectives' philosophies on compensation, benefits, and career development. When asked what the hardest part of her job is, she responds that she often wants to offer multiple candidates each position that she has open. Therefore, she is a strong proponent of talent pipelines that allow candidates to easily apply to better suited roles in the future.   What areas of the business does Avery support? Avery mainly supports our CX Contact Centers, CX Operations, and Mail Center external hiring efforts. She also manages internal CX Operations roles and hires for our Internship & Apprenticeship programs. Avery is also a part of our external outreach team that plans and attends career fairs and community outreach events.   What is Avery’s favorite thing to do outside of work? Avery enjoys live music, hiking, and camping with her loved ones. She plays the bass guitar in her church’s band and is currently teaching herself how to play her grandfather’s banjo.
