What's one of the key ingredients to navigating a career in tech? Getting guidance. As much as 87% of people who participate in mentorship programs feel empowered by the relationships they build, according to one Deloitte study — and even their mentors see benefits, too.
Martin Kanev, one of our mentors in the NextGen Internship Experience at Blankfactor, can speak to that dynamic.
Here's what he had to say about his views on being a mentor.
"I have gained expertise and experience in the IT industry, and now I want to help other people with their careers. Witnessing my students' progress and knowing that I played a part in their journey brings me great satisfaction and motivates me to continue mentoring in IT.
Having worked in IT, I have gained valuable insights into industry trends, best practices, and new technologies. I advise interns to help them strengthen their technical skills and to help them make more informed decisions on their career paths. I can advise on establishing stronger relationships with coworkers, collaborating, and communicating with clients.
I’m dedicated to lifelong learning. Each day I try to educate myself with something new. I read documentation, go through courses, and I watch interesting tech channels. Overall, I try to apply myself in my work."
