If you post a job ad for “Box Truck Driver”, what is the core 𝚙̲𝚞̲𝚛̲𝚙̲𝚘̲𝚜̲𝚎̲ for that role? If you think it’s “𝑡𝑜 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑡 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑓𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑡𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑐𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑟”, you are missing the point. Anyone with a valid driver’s license and DOT medical card can do that. The 𝚙̲𝚞̲𝚛̲𝚙̲𝚘̲𝚜̲𝚎̲ is to provide an exceptional experience for your customer. The professional driver that calls ahead, has a smile, builds a relationship with your customer, and follows the delivery requirements (what entrance to use, what dock to park at, where to check in, etc.) truly understands the 𝚙̲𝚞̲𝚛̲𝚙̲𝚘̲𝚜̲𝚎̲ of their role. Most trucking companies are horrible at hiring & retaining drivers. Here's why... No driver (that you want to hire) is spending their free time on job boards. The same can be said with all great talent. Reflecting back on 100s of qualified hires... I can only think of a handful of persons who came to us from a job board. Key roles are filled by actively looking for superstars, not by spamming job sites. Instead, you have to: → go where the talent/driver pool is → present an irresistible offer → effective follow-up

Think about the number three - there are three wishes and it can also represent the past, present, and future. I recently celebrated my Three Year Carvanaversary and am thrilled to announce my promotion to Recruiter and excited to see what comes next! My journey with Carvana began as an Associate Recruiter by supporting the hiring for our Customer Experience team (our Advocates who work with customers over the phone) and making a few road stops along the way to support recruiting for other roles in the company. About two years ago, I changed lanes and started hiring for our Market Operations teams - our Vehicle Delivery Advocates (that's my present focus). The future keeps me inspired, challenged, and staying with the auto vernacular … driven. I'm driven to support hiring for our Snow Belt region (Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania) and when the opportunity comes up, to jump in to support my team and other markets across the country. I feel incredibly fortunate to work with some of the most talented recruiters in the industry. I'm humbled by their focus, dedication and support, and my managers have truly been champions of my growth and development since joining the team - everyone I've come in contact with (past and present) at Carvana has had an impression and impact on my career.
