I share so much of the same sentiment as JP. Some of my fondest childhood memories stem from time spent with my father. He worked for General Motors for nearly 40 years and every now and again he would have the opportunity to bring home a new vehicle. I remember the whole neighborhood would come over to check it out. From a very early age, it sparked an interest in GM and our vehicles. Together, my father and I have over 80 years with the company, so my love of vehicles and GM runs deep. On this Father's Day, I find myself reflecting on the profound impact my father has had on my life and how I miss him, as well as how grateful I am for the unwavering love and support of my husband that makes every day better. Both of these remarkable men inspire me daily. So today, we celebrate all the fathers and father figures who shape our lives – my father, my husband, those I have the privilege of working with at GM and to all the dads out there who make a difference every day.

Dad! It’s been amazing to start this new chapter of mine leading global manufacturing and sustainability at General Motors. You always told me that time goes fast, I can hardly remember a time where that has been more true than right now. I'm writing to express my deepest gratitude for everything you've done for me. You've instilled in me the values of trust, respect, and confidence, which have shaped me into the person I am today. I owe my entire career to you. Your hard work and dedication showed me the importance of perseverance, and your unwavering belief in me gave me the courage to pursue my dreams of making cool cars. It's a job I love, and I wouldn't be here without you. Thank you for creating a childhood for me that was safe, filled with love, and taught me the value of hard work. Those early lessons have helped me build a wonderful family of my own, and I'm so proud of the four incredible children that Winni and I have raised together. You're the best father anyone could ask for, and I'm so grateful to have you in my life. I wish you, and all the other dads out there, a very happy Father's Day! Love always, JP
My son is a 4th Generation GM employee celebrating his 17th year. I am his dad and I spent 44 years with GM beginning in 1973. Both my son’s grandfather and great-grandfather were Chevrolet Flint employees dating back to the 1930s. We are a proud GM legacy family.
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt post.
My father worked for GM for 35 years and was also President of the GM Salaried Retirees. No one was allowed to park a non GM vehilcle in our driveway. He could not understand how anyone in Oshawa could not support their neighbors and friends by driving anything but a GM product. But more than that, he was a renaissance man — he was a pioneer to women in leadership positions in GM Canada. Miss you dad!
Thank you for honoring the Men who inspired you to be a great person. Keep your head up and being the leader you are called to be.
I can relate as my dad worked for Ford Motor Company 🇨🇦 for 38 years and gave me my love of cars 🚘 (nerdy kid knowing all the options those pool cars he would bring home could get), engines (he built some race engines) and 🏁racing (we went many times and cheered for oval vs bowtie!😂). Thanks for posting this and all the best! 👍Looks like a great day ☀️ to take a new Vette out on a track with an LT6R, manual trans and make some 1-2 powershifts😉👊🏁
Personality is formed in early childhood and I am glad that you remember your early childhood with your father. I also remember my early childhood with my mother especially when she was congratulated by people that saw me read the gospel in church. i enjoy very much seeing your vehicles on the road and I have ve found memories of a Buick Regal Custom that i had in the 90's I wish you good luck with GM for years to come! Sincerely Yours Emilio Di Concilio
I was walking through St Peters Square, 12 yrs old, and came upon a statue of a man carrying his father on his shoulder while walking and holding the hand of his young child. When I asked my Dad who the man in the statue was, he said, " It is me." Much of what we understand about life goes unnoticed until later, and then there are wonderful memories.
My father in law is a consumer of GM vehicles and has been for most of his 90 years. I am however extremely disappointed that nobody in your organization could take the time to recognize him on his 90th birthday, after I made continuous requests, to include a direct post to you Mary. Apparently General Motors is just another corporation that can’t relate to those that keep you in business.

1moBoth my father and grandfather were GM men, too. Together, they actually invented a part that GM helped them patent and gave them a suggestion award for many years ago; it was such a proud moment for my family. I still remember how exciting it was to visit the GM Open House events as a kid. I'm still a company fan to this day, happily driving my GM vehicle (often with my significant other who is also a GM man right beside me 😊).
