I've been reflecting on this piece a bit since it was published last week. The headline saddened me as I deeply believe cross-sector collaboration is the path to the future. We can not give up on each other - we all must work together to find creative solutions that leverage the strengths of each sector - which does NOT include asking for the private sector to blanket-fill government budget gaps. With so many amazing examples of innovative cross sector collaboration in play, let's not give up yet. #PublicPrivatePartnership #CrossSector #CorporateSocialResponsibility #Philanthropy #Nonprofits https://lnkd.in/ghhANN6H

There are numerous organizations that make a huge impact on the community -- small non-profits, hospitals, universities, religious organizations, and foundations, to name a few. Here is just a snapshot of some that are close to my own heart: Streetsmart - This is an outreach organization that offers food, warm clothing and compassion to the homeless in the Ottawa downtown core. This is an important non-profit, in fact, when you actually look at the cause of homelessness it can range from mental health, addictions, family abuse, and more. My experience meeting one-on-one with this community is that they are kind, humble, and grateful for any kind of compassion or offering of food and clothing they receive. Being a part of this group truly grounds me. Ottawa Food Bank - Hunger is something that one would never think arises within a city that has such a strong economic base, but nothing could be further from the truth. With inflation rearing its ugly head, interest rates soaring, and with there being a shortage of housing, the ability to afford food has increased astronomically. The Food Bank is a well utilized resource for people in our community to ensure that no family is left without basic food security. This organization also runs its own farm growing almost 200k pounds of fresh food! Volunteering at the Harvest Farm each year with my Team is something we look forward to and a fantastic way to get out and help the community. Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation (OJCF) - The OJCF provides financial support to many organizations within the Jewish Community and beyond. In the Jewish faith, we believe in tsedekah, which is the obligation to do what is right and just, to repair the world, or to be charitable. The foundation aims toward the common goal of enhancing the quality of life and making a difference in the community. Is there an organization you think is doing a great job in your community?

Working out what's next 🤘 Relying on a unique blend of legal, entrepreneurial, and philanthropic experience 🤘
What I've learned after 12 years, 4,383 days, or 105,192 hours of volunteering and being actively engaged in charity work around Birmingham. That the city is TEEMING with brilliant people. People that continually show dedication, kindness, and selflessness. They are the bedrock upon which our beloved city thrives, doing remarkable things for their communities and the city at large. Here are some of the standout features and lessons I've learned about these extraordinary individuals: 👉 Unwavering Commitment: Rain or shine, day or night, their dedication never wanes. Their commitment to improving the lives of others is an inspiration. 👉 Selflessness: The readiness to put others' needs before their own has taught me the true essence of altruism. 👉 Innovation: The creative ways they tackle problems and implement solutions is nothing short of astounding. 👉 Community Spirit: The strong sense of community and connection with each other, regardless of background. 👉 Resilience: Their ability to persevere through challenges and continue to strive for excellence. These remarkable individuals are not just supporting Birmingham; they are TRANSFORMING it. And I think we need to end the week by celebrating the brilliance that surrounds us. And if you'd like to do it publicly, feel free to tag them here. #Birmingham #Community #Charity
