Traffic sent from news aggregators to publishers’ sites is stalling, according to four publishing execs and data from analytics firm Chartbeat. Traffic driven by news aggregators — as a percent of total traffic referred by social, search and links — has gone down from 18-20 percent in 2020 to a range of about 13.6 percent to 15 percent in 2023. https://lnkd.in/dWar5b57

Here's the behind-the-scenes for a digital PR campaign in the home niche. 👇 We scraped sources to see which songs appear on the most spring cleaning lists. We're going to organize and analyze this data and write a press release Next, we need to find journalists to pitch. I'm going to scrape Google for this by: 1. exporting all keywords from Ahrefs keyword explorer with the term "song" +2-3 words. This equaled 72,000 keywords. (~10 seconds) 2. running each term through a GPT categorizer to pull out all the holiday-related songs. 3. adding the term "news" to each relevant keyword, and the search operator after:2022 and scraping Google for the top 20 results 4. running all results through Netpeak to check Ahrefs Traffic to weed out sites with less than 10,000 traffic Finally, I'll have a prospector go through each qualified site and find emails for outreach. (So far, this is the only step in the process I haven't been able to mostly automate 😞) Set up outreach templates and begin sending. I expect all these steps to be completed by Friday. I'll check in within 3 weeks to let you know how the campaign performed. 🤝
