Last post of this serie on "How to make a TPo Project successul". Today we will discuss why as a sponsor you should get in a certain level of detail, and why trust is so essential to success. 📌 Sponsors : get involved, challenge, descope As the project sponsor, you should have a read at the blueprint as well, and what you have not fully understood, ask for more details. 🔎 You should be able to understand the answers, and if not, if that is as clear as muddy water ? Send it back to rework. Think about it : How many times in your career have you seen blueprint validation rejected ? Once, twice ? How many projects did you see going blinking red in go-live ? hmmm ? 🛡 Ask for what is too complex ? Descope. If you feel it’s too ambitious ? Simplify. Use the sacred trinity of easing project teams life : give them more time, more resources and less work. One practical example of what you can descope can be channels or customers where data seems a bit scarce, or KPIs that seem really complex to calculate. All those scoping efforts you will make will be long praised when project will enter difficult times. 🔗 Keep the trust level high With this great team you have built, this properly described machine they put together and your involvement in the project, you have paved a great way for the project to be successful. You have created all the conditions of trust, and trust you will need when the project will go-live. Trust is the GOLD of your forecasting engine. Remember that you are building a forecasting machine. Imagine there’s a tiny bug in the machine one day, and all of the sudden your system does not forecast right. 📅 Just one-day. With all the momentum of the built trust, you will be able to overcome this, otherwise, prepare for struggle. I hope you have been convinced that being successful is all about giving your project the proper team, applying the right methodology, providing the needed support and defining the right scope to ultimately build trust. No rocket science here, but hope this is experience worth sharing ! With this I wish for you successful TPO projects !
