"How can old batteries cost more than new batteries? New batteries cost less than $100/kWh" That's the most common question and comment we get when publishing our observed prices for used batteries. The answer is obviously that new batteries usually cost much more than the $100-150/kWh large OEMs can source battery cells for. Often much more. A new replacement battery for a PHEV can easily cost $700/kWh. And as seen in the picture, if you want 2.24 kWh in your garden you need to pay $811/kWh although it includes a power inverter, AC plug and USB connectors. The value of a used battery is determined by the alternative price for the same application somebody intend to use it for. DV Power is proud to present its unique in the market solution for Battery Capacity Testing – BLU1350D. EV manufacturers are heading towards higher voltage levels, and we are there to meet the market requirements. Therefore, we created a solution capable of testing batteries with maximum voltages up to 1350 V, with a maximum discharge power of 40 kW and discharge current of 100 A. When combined with the ZVD module, it enables Full Battery Discharge prior to recycling, in order to meet the requirements of the growing battery recycling market. Just like our previous Battery Load Units, it has an integrated Battery Voltage Supervisor system integrated in it. BVS enables the usage of CVM-4 modules for automatic voltage cell measurements through the capacity test. This approach enables the user to detect weaker cells within the entire string. A chain is as strong as its weakest link – a battery is strong as its weakest cell.
