These workshops involve courageous conversations which in turn help to raise the consciousness of all participants. E mihi ana ki te hunga kua whai wāhi mai ki ēnei wānanga nei. 🌏 As a business in Aotearoa New Zealand, it’s important to us that we continue learning and strengthening how we understand and apply Te Ao Māori (the Māori world view) to help us fulfil our mission, to accelerate progress for all New Zealanders. Over the past three months, more than 300 of our ASB whānau have engaged and completed a Te Ao Māori cultural capability workshop, which explores elements and concepts of the Māori world view, including tikanga (Māori customs) and te reo Māori. The workshops, delivered in partnership with strategic Māori development consultancy Mather Solutions Ltd, focus on whanaungatanga (connections) and creating a safe space for learning. Anita Cooper, ASB’s Employee Experience Lead – Kaimahi Māori, says, “ASB team members from across Aotearoa had the opportunity to participate in these meaningful workshops and come away feeling uplifted and eager to develop a better understanding of Te Ao Māori.”
