Milestone hit in 5 days.....July 1st holds a special significance; it not only marks the midpoint of 2024 for all of us, but also celebrates three months since the launch of my new business venture (https://lnkd.in/g_ft4mb2) It's cliched to call it my baby, as its not nearly as expensive as having kids. But please humour me for the analogy's sake as I think I can make it work. Much like a three-month-old baby, I find myself finally sleeping through the night, eagerly reaching out for new things (clients!), and beginning to develop a personality—though some who know me well would strongly contest that last point. Reflecting on these initial three months compared to my nearly three decades in the corporate sector, I'd like to share some insights: 1) Responsibility Rests Solely on You - As an entrepreneur, you become the go-to person for everything, including IT support. 2) Be Wary of Spam and Scams - Once your business details are public, be prepared for spam calls with lofty promises of 'boosting your sales by 40%', and misleading mail that mimics official government correspondence, attempting to trick you into paying for unnecessary services. Listening to these calls can be educational in learning what not to do in sales. 3) Embrace the Unknown - There's a lot you won't know, and that's okay. Seek advice from trusted sources when you find yourself in uncharted territory. 4) Master Your Time - Unlike the corporate world, where I used to spend 16-20 hours each week in recurring meetings (what I have been told is affectionately known as the 'corporate meeting tax'), running your own business means every hour counts. Start each day by setting clear, achievable goals and celebrating ticking them off the list at the end of the day. 5) Combat Loneliness and LANO (look after number one)- Entrepreneurship can be isolating. It's crucial to take care of your physical and mental health. 6) Have fun doing it and enjoy the journey. #smallbusiness #bakerandbakerconsutling PS Attached photo is my eldest daughter aged approx 6 months (now aged 14) and me approx 35 (now aged 49). Well done Matt! Clearly, you are a quick learner. Number six is my favorite point. With entrepreneurship, the journey IS the destination. Enjoy every day, every interaction, and every obstacle. As my son likes to tell me when we are doing something difficult, "Remember Dad, We GET to do this."

“Entrepreneurship can be isolating” - have heard it from many entrepreneurs. But that’s what separates them from the herd! Keep going!

Such an insightful post and I couldn’t agree more with the points made as someone who has also recently put something out there - be resilient, focused and watch for those seeking to profit from your initiatives with dubious ROI! Good luck Matt! 👏
