Although not yet "out of the woods", it seems #ercot #powergeneration is holding up during the arctic blast. Interesting to see the critial importace of #naturalgas generation to be able to ramp up quickly at around 6 pm, despite overall hourly demand way below its peak. Why? Renewable generation from #solar and #wind are contributing near zero. What happens when load growth occurs via more #electrification (data centers, bitcoin mining and EVs) without adding more dispatchable gas generation in the future? This video was one of the original ones that put me onto the idea of how #Bitcoin mining would integrate into the 'national importance' bucket over time as an essential service provider to utility companies, which have government issued mandates to expand the renewable mixture of power generation. This of course requires a large education leap across a few highly technical areas, and the learning curve has been steep, but this year has been a breakthrough year with these conversations becoming more common and not getting laughed out of the room. All the pieces are in place now. This will be yet another huge product / market fit for #Bitcoin Globally beneficial, nation state aligned.
