AWS expanding in Taiwan! Shows the potential the country holds ensuring organisations of varying sizes leverage cloud potentials, also catering the demand of Cloud services the region holds.
Amazon was founded on July 5, 1994, by Jeff Bezos in his garage in Bellevue, Washington. Initially, the company was named "Cadabra" but was later changed to Amazon Inc. due to the name's similarity to "cadaver." Bezos wanted to create an "everything store" and started by selling books online. The first book sold on Amazon was "Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought" by Douglas R. Hofstadter. The company's early days were marked by rapid growth, with Amazon shipping books to all 50 US states and 45 countries within the first month of operation.
Taiwan is a great potential market, a modern, global facing economy, high tech adoption rates, skilled local workforce. Hopefully Amazon entering the race will be able to help drive solutions for power at scale and some of their other hurdles.
