The morning routine to win your day by 10 AM: 1. Wake Up at 5:30 AM Getting up at the same time every day is crucial: • No phone calls or notifications • Separates you from 99% of people • Gives you time to connect with yourself Once you’re up, the quiet time alone is unmatched. 2. Go for a Walk The first thing I do every morning is take a walk outside. Adding a morning walk into your routine: • Clears your head • Allows you to get present • Gets you into “limbic motion” → tells your brain it's time to work 10 minutes to set you up for success. 3. Iced Americano My morning cup of coffee is my daily highlight: 1. Cues me into work mode 2. Increases focus and dopamine 3. Gives me something to look forward to I wait ~90 minutes after waking up to drink caffeine to prevent an afternoon crash. 4. 3 Hours of Deep Work You'll get more done in 3 hours of deep work than 9 hours of distracted work. No phones, notifications, or emails. High-Quality Work = (Time Spent) x (Intensity of Focus) All you need: • Physical To-Do List • Iced Americano • Deep Work Music 5. Plan Your Morning the Night Before Having a plan: • Decreases anxiety • Enables better sleep at night • Reduces the time between waking and working By 10 PM every night your brain is burnt out from work. Instead of forcing down more tasks, plan out your next day. 6. Take a Break and Lift Weights I lift weights 5-6 days a week. Weightlifting is proven to: • Boost testosterone • Increase energy and focus • Raise overall mood and well-being Give your brain a rest while giving your body a boost. 7. No Meetings Until 2 PM So many people want our attention. The ability to focus on ourselves is the #1 key to success. So, for the first 9 hours of the day, I am focused on one thing. Myself. Doing this allows me to, in turn, give my best to others. — Enjoy this? ♻️ Repost it to your network and follow Matt Gray for more. Want my perfect Morning Routine checklist? MY BIGGEST THINGS: (that takes me less than 1 hour aka (4% of my day) ) And they're not just big. They're life-changing: → Tea → Pray → Brush teeth Then get straight into the most important thing to do of the day Nothing matters more than relieving all your work stress first thing I don't know about you, but I think you should try this out. BONUS: → Waking up at 5-6am, before most get up, can change your whole life perspective, and going for a walk will make you think you're from another planet Trust me, I do or have done all of these. You're in safe hands <3 Matt Gray great post chief
Avoiding meetings and focus-draining interactions until the afternoon is so massive it’s almost hard to explain.
Matt Gray Thanks for this. I might use this but need to make some adjustments. Kids' routine in the morning takes a few hours.
Planning the night before is a must. Less stress and a smoother morning for sure
1 thing I learnt about the morning... Investing in your morning is investing in yourself. It's the best return you'll ever get. Because... A strong morning routine doesn't just change your day. Over time, it changes your life. Matt Gray
Love these Matt Gray. Back when I was waking up at 4am for college rowing we used to have a saying, "We get more done before 8am than most people do all day." I held that with me into my career and still aim to get the bulk of my day done as early as possible.
Great morning routine! Starting the day with consistency, a walk, and deep work sets a strong foundation for productivity. Planning the night before and avoiding distractions until the afternoon are excellent strategies. Thanks for sharing these actionable tips!
Waking up early gives you a head start that the rest simply find too hard to catch up with.
So simple yet so powerful. This takes real discipline. Love it

1moStarting my day with a morning walk has been a game-changer for me. It's not just about physical exercise but also about mental clarity. Stepping outside, even if it's just for a short stroll around the neighborhood, helps me clear my mind and set intentions for the day. The quiet time alone allows me to reflect and prioritize my tasks. It's like a reset button before diving into work. I find that when I make time for this morning routine, I feel more focused and ready to tackle challenges. Matt Gray
