All proceeds will go to Black Hills Badges for Hope; Badges for Hope partners with first responders and community members to help identify youth in need of support. Local police officers are then matched up with the identified youth and provide the means to help the youth into the selected sport or activity. By bringing youth and local police officers together in this way, we hope to create strong community relationships that last, building everything upon Integrity, trust and compassion. Event Highlights include: Horse Ownership: With your ticket, you'll have the chance to become a horse owner. You even get to choose and name your horse, which adds a personal touch to the night of races. Admission: Your ticket includes entry to the event, ensuring you can enjoy all the activities and entertainment. Free Beer: Each ticket comes with one free beer. Funny Money: You'll receive "Funny Money" to place bets on the horse races, adding an element of excitement and competition to the night. Derby Style Dress-Up Contest: This year, there will be a Derby Style Dress-Up Contest. Make sure to dress your best in Derby attire and hats for a chance to win some prizes. Supporting a Great Cause: The primary purpose of this event is to raise funds for the Badges N Kids fund at Black Hills Badges for Hope. All proceeds will directly contribute to this incredible cause. Age Requirement: To attend the event, all ticket holders must be at least 21 years old. Are 5K's the key to the future of trail running? Yesterday I was curious about one of the fastest growing races on the platform - Healdsburg Turkey Trot - by Skip Brand and his team. I wanted to know how many of the thousands of runners in this race were new to the UltraSignup platform. So, I asked our data guru - Matt Abbott - to find out. The results - 2/3 of the runners were new to the platform. That's huge. So, that means, because of the efforts of Skip and his team, thousands of people have now had exposure to the broader community of trail adventures. Certainly, many of these runners will race more of Skip's races, but they will also explore races from other directors. This is the power of the community. Skip's efforts to put on a local 5K will have ripple effects across the sport. How far will the ripples go? That's hard to tell. A certain percentage of these racers will sign up for other races in the next weeks, months, and years. They will also brings friends along with them to share the experience with. Then the ripples will extend into their circles of friends. These are network effects in action. So, I would encourage all of our race directors to think about the power of the 5K, even if it's not on a trail. New Years Day resolution runs, St. Paddy day, Firecrackers 5Ks, Turkey Trots, etc. They may be the key to the long-term growth of our sport. Providing these athletes with an entry point into this awesome community is so powerful. Creating an accessible laddering of distances will pay dividends for you and for the sport more broadly. We couldn't help but draw parallels between long-distance running and real estate. Both require unwavering dedication, persistence, and a long-term mindset. Just like marathon runners endure months of training, setbacks, and challenges before the big race, real estate professionals invest years into honing their skills, building their networks, and navigating the ups and downs of the market. And much like the feeling of invincibility that comes over you during a particularly exhilarating run, there are moments in our real estate careers when we feel unstoppable. When deals come together seamlessly, when investments pay off beyond our expectations, we're reminded of the endless possibilities that lie ahead. Perhaps the most striking similarity between long-distance running and real estate investing is the commitment to the long haul. WE GONE RUN IT UP! Being a black woman distance runner is one of the many hats I wear. There’s so much more than what you see on the surface with running. It’s deeper than the numbers - pace, distance, finish time, etc. Racing reminds me that just like in life we start over many times. When we show up to each starting line, we’re not in the same place we were when we crossed the last finish line. My running journey allows me to show up exactly as I am and take off however I choose: walking, jogging, sliding, gliding, skipping, crying, singing, dancing and even running. I love taking up space on the road, mile after mile showing up for myself and being one of the many black woman distance runners that continue to take up space in a world where we deserve to exist. I was having a conversation with Demi today and had the opportunity to reflect on my “why” for races. It’s simple - I get to control how I maneuver through the course and I get to finish. No matter how I do it, I look forward to celebrating myself through the finish line alongside hundreds of other runners who have their own reasons to them, but with the same goal as me - run with it and finish. Experienced staff is key to an events business that involves getting people involved in a watersport for the first time.

Sportsbet is continuing to invest in racing, announcing a new landmark five-year partnership with Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) 🏇   This partnership is a meeting of minds, with strong alignment in core values and a shared aim to re-position the sport to new racing fans and open up racing to more sporting audiences.   The MRC is a successful and progressive not-for-profit club, and the deal encompasses three MRC racetracks and Sportsbet becoming the naming rights partner for the Caulfield Cup Carnival and the iconic Caulfield Cup.   A large part of re-positioning the sport to new fans involves supporting the racing industry and its wider community. We love this photo from Disc Golf Wānaka – it tells a story in so many ways. Bringing together over 30+ passionate volunteers to fly the flags of project contributors is no easy feat. Thanks to the combined effort of multiple funders, Disc Golf Wānaka’s event capability just got a huge boost in 2023. 🚀 Sport New Zealand, The Lion Foundation, Aotearoa Gaming Trust, Central Lakes Trust, and Otago Community Trust (via a recent $8,600 grant) supported the groups recent project for the purchase of an events trailer and a cage trailer for disc golf Wānaka. “Thanks to the good folk at these funding organizations for getting behind our game and improving health and wellbeing in the Upper Clutha. The $30,000 of funding has enabled us to purchase a large, enclosed events trailer and a cage trailer with 18 portable helix baskets.” 🙌 This photo is a timely reminder to funders that none of us work in isolation. For our community groups, their initiatives, programmes, and projects come to fruition through collaboration. Our funding is always focused on doing the right and responsible thing, making an impact, providing greater opportunities, and supporting communities to do what they do best. While acknowledgment is nice, the reward is always about seeing community groups succeed and doing the best they can within their communities. 👏 In the meantime, summer is a perfect opportunity for novices among us to give Disc Golf a whirl. If you holiday in Wānaka, you are spoiled for choice with an 18-basket course at Lismore Park, a smaller 9-basket course at Eely Point, alongside the Lake Hāwea disc golf course. Uniquely You FundRace Event  On Saturday, August 31, 9-4:30pm get ready for the ride of your life! Slide into the form fitting seat of a state-of-the-art, electric racing kart and let it rip on a challenging, parking lot race course. Compete against other drivers in a thrilling kart racing competition for top honors. Professional race car driver, Jagger Jones, grandson of the legendary 1963 Indy 500 winner, Parnelli Jones, and Angela Savage, daughter of famed Indy racer, Swede Savage will greet you as part of the event team. Participation takes approximately an hour and a half. Participants will register for one of four, ninety-minute sessions that will be held throughout the day. The race is open to licensed drivers who are at least 16 years of age or older. The registration fee is $50 per driver, plus a $200 minimum fundraising commitment. Alternatively, participants may choose to pay a $250 registration fee and have no fundraising obligation. A three-person team may enter for $700. Company sponsorship opportunities are available, which include a team entry and other entitlements. The race is sponsored by Uniquely You magazine, a monthly publication dedicated to the special needs community. The magazine features personal stories written by individuals and families within the community, with the aim of inspiring, connecting, and offering hope to others facing similar challenges. Its stories serve to uplift and support those who may be feeling overwhelmed, seeking connections, or in need of community. Proceeds from the event will offset printing costs, allowing the magazine to reach more individuals, families & organizations in the community. These efforts ensure that those who can benefit from the valuable insights and information provided by the magazine can access it, regardless of financial constraints.
