Today is a day to remember! I'll never forget the smile of the employee when she saw the room decorated. One of our team members recently moved to Ireland and is about to get married, so we hosted a special surprise bridal shower for her. We included some things like her favourite cake and a wedding veil. You might wonder what this has to do with HR, but I believe it has everything to do with it. More than half of employees not attending work Christmas party, People Management poll finds Other research says cost is a big factor, while businesses are increasingly concerned by the risk of alcohol-fuelled problems A poll by People Management has found more than half (53 per cent) of employees are not attending a work Christmas party this year. The poll on LinkedIn of more than 1,500 people saw the remaining 47 per cent say they will be attending a workplace festive bash. It comes as a survey of 127 employers by employment law and HR consultancy WorkNest found half (50 per cent) of businesses that were planning a Christmas or end-of-year party were concerned about employees not being able to afford to attend. In total, 47 per cent said they would not be throwing a party at all and one in five (20 per cent) of those celebrating said they were concerned about employees drinking in the presence of non-drinking staff.
